Asia University has made a groundbreaking announcement regarding the establishment of its new Health and Sports Science Department, set to open in April 2026. This initiative was officially sanctioned by the Minister of Education on August 29 and comes as the university prepares to celebrate its 85th anniversary. This department represents a pivotal moment as it marks the university's first foray into the fields of science, focusing on information technology and physical education as core subjects in its curriculum.
The Health and Sports Science Department aims to integrate the university’s rich tradition of sports with a scientific perspective, aspiring to enhance performance and contribute to the health and well-being of society. By 2027, a dedicated laboratory and training facility will be established on the Musashino campus, providing hands-on training opportunities for students as they progress into their second year. Part of the funding for this construction will come from a grant provided by the Japan Agency for University Reform Support, aimed at enhancing university and vocational capacities.
