Benesse Style Care's Art Exhibition Showcases Resident Creativity and Community Engagement

Benesse Style Care's Art Exhibition: Celebrating Residents' Creative Expressions

The Benesse Style Care Group is excited to announce the third iteration of the Benesse Style Care Art Exhibition, scheduled to take place from August 6 to August 11, 2025, at the Art Forum Azamino in Aoba, Yokohama City. This annual event serves as a vibrant platform for residents of Benesse's senior care homes to express their creativity through art.

Initiated in 2023, the exhibition invites residents to not only showcase their artistic endeavors but also to engage with the community and foster intergenerational connections. The previous year saw around 540 visitors, and this year's exhibition is anticipated to exceed that number, promoting a heartwarming exchange of ideas and artistic inspirations.

Event Details

  • - Dates: August 6 (Wednesday) to August 11 (Monday) 2025
  • - Hours: Daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (last entry at 4:30 PM). On August 11, the exhibition will close at 2:00 PM (last entry at 1:30 PM).
  • - Location: Art Forum Azamino, 1-17-3 Azamino Minami, Aoba Ward, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
  • - Admission: Free, no reservation required.

Exhibition Highlights

The exhibition will feature approximately 100 artworks created by the residents, showcasing individual pieces as well as collaborative works produced by multiple homes from cities such as Kawasaki, Yokohama, and Machida. Residents have been engaged in creating pieces with summer themes, such as fireworks and sunflowers, reflecting the collective creativity and enthusiasm of the participants.

Moreover, the exhibition will introduce an interactive art segment where visitors can contribute to the artwork on display. This participatory approach is designed to create a collaborative atmosphere, encouraging visitors of all ages to leave their mark.

One of the cornerstones of this event is the implementation of the BASN Interactive Viewing program, developed in cooperation with Benesse Art Site Naoshima. This program facilitates dialogues around art appreciation, encouraging participants to share their feelings and insights on the artworks. Through these discussions, the caregivers can better understand the residents' emotions and preferences, enhancing their quality of life in the process.

What to Expect

Visitors will have the opportunity to witness a diverse array of artistic expressions, from paintings and ceramics to photographs and calligraphy, all reflecting the individual histories and emotional landscapes of the residents. The aim is to shine a light on each piece's significance, celebrating the resilience and imagination that exist within the senior community.

The exhibition also strives to enhance the experiences of both residents and visitors, encouraging everyone to engage in the dialogue-based appreciation that takes place during the exhibit. This approach not only enriches the artistic encounter but fosters a deeper understanding and sense of connection among participants.

Conclusion

The Benesse Style Care Art Exhibition promises to be a vibrant celebration of creativity and community spirit. By showcasing the talents of residents and promoting interactivity, the exhibition reflects our commitment to enhancing the quality of life through art. We welcome all to join us from August 6 to August 11, 2025, for this enriching experience at Art Forum Azamino.
