Collaboration for a Greener Future
In a significant initiative aimed at reducing environmental impact, FP Co., a leading manufacturer of disposable food containers in Japan, has joined hands with Uokumi, a fresh fish specialty store operating across the Hanshin region and Nara. This collaboration focuses on the active use of environmentally friendly products such as eco-trays and eco-APET to cut down CO2 emissions in their operations, particularly in six stores managed by Uokumi as of May 2026.
Background of the Collaboration
FP Co. is committed to sustainability through their unique recycling methodology known as 'FP Co. Recycling’, which promotes the circular economy by reducing CO2 emissions and developing eco-friendly containers. Their innovative processes, including 'tray-to-tray' recycling of used food trays and 'bottle-to-transparent container' recycling of used PET bottles, enable the creation of eco-products like eco-trays and eco-APET, thus contributing to a sustainable society.
Achievements in CO2 Reduction Through Eco Products
Uokumi has been proactive in utilizing FP Co.'s eco products at their sales outlets, showcasing their dedication to reducing carbon emissions. In the fiscal year ending December 2025, they successfully cut down 44 tons of CO2 emissions, as calculated by FP Co. Moving forward, Uokumi plans to strengthen their efforts by transitioning more of their offerings, such as sashimi and sushi, to eco-friendly packaging. By increasing the usage of recycled eco products in their stores, they aim to further contribute to the creation of a sustainable society.
Community Awareness Initiatives
To enhance public awareness about this initiative and encourage environmental consciousness, Uokumi has committed to displaying informative posters in all their stores. These posters will highlight the benefits of CO2 reduction and the significance of recycling, fostering understanding and participation in recycling activities among customers. By engaging the community collectively, they aim to promote efforts focused on reducing environmental burdens.
