IKEA Expands Its Accessibility with New Pickup Centers
IKEA, the well-known Swedish home furnishing brand, is taking a significant step to enhance customer convenience in Japan. With a vision of offering a more comfortable life to more people, IKEA Japan Co., Ltd. announced on September 18, 2025, the opening of two new dedicated product pickup centers in the Miyazaki and Oita prefectures. This initiative is aimed at improving service accessibility across Japan, fulfilling IKEA's commitment to foster sustainable living.
As a partner in people’s home lives, IKEA provides affordable products and services that enable comfortable and sustainable living. In collaboration with its business partners, IKEA has been rolling out its 'center pickup' service nationwide. This innovative service allows IKEA to deliver products to nearby pickup centers or Sagawa Express offices, from where customers can take the items to their homes. This model significantly cuts down delivery costs while offering flexibility in the pickup process.
The expansion of the center pickup service not only enhances convenience for customers but also alleviates the burden of last-mile delivery, thus contributing to environmental sustainability. With this latest opening, IKEA will operate 57 large product pickup locations, alongside 470 small product pickup centers in partnership with Sagawa Express. Hence, the total number of product pickup points throughout the nation will rise to 527.
