Omni Brewing Partners with All Energy Solar for Sustainable Energy Solution

Omni Brewing's Commitment to Sustainability

In a remarkable stride towards eco-friendliness, Omni Brewing Company in Rosemount, Minnesota, has partnered with All Energy Solar to incorporate solar energy into their new brewing facility. This decision was not taken lightly; sustainability was a key consideration from the inception of their operational plans. The brewery aims not just to produce quality craft beers but to do so in a manner that protects the environment and promises a cleaner future.

The Vision Behind the Solar Initiative

Justin Walsh, the owner of Omni Brewing, expressed enthusiasm about the solar project, noting, "Going solar has been one of the more satisfying investments we've made at Omni Brewing." This mindset reflects the brewery's commitment to operate more sustainably, allowing them to draw energy from the sun — a resource that is both renewable and abundant. Walsh believes this installation significantly contributes to their sustainability objectives, making solar energy an integral part of their brewery operations.

How All Energy Solar Made It Happen

To achieve their ambitious energy goals, Omni Brewing collaborated with All Energy Solar (AES), a turnkey solar provider specializing in comprehensive solar energy solutions. The collaboration covered all aspects of the project, from initial energy analysis and engineering to securing the necessary permits and overseeing construction. By utilizing federal tax credits, bonus depreciation, and a USDA REAP grant, AES ensured that Omni could optimize their return on investment.

The brewery’s solar system, boasting a capacity of 74.8 kW, consists of 176 panels outfitted with Enphase microinverters. This specific configuration was chosen with Omni's east-west array orientation in mind, which allows for enhanced energy production throughout the day. Unlike traditional centralized inverter systems, Enphase provides better material economy and longer warranty periods, thus ensuring reliability.

The Advantages of Their Solar Setup

Walsh emphasized the benefits of the Enphase monitoring system, stating that it allows the team to assess the performance of each panel accurately. This advanced monitoring provides peace of mind, as each microinverter is protected under a generous 25-year warranty. Knowing they are backed by such reliable technology allows the brewery to focus on brewing excellent beer with the knowledge that their energy needs are sustainably met.

Environmental Impact and Financial Benefits

The solar installation melds beautifully with the brewery's sloped roof, exhibiting a clean aesthetic that compliments the overall design. According to Michael Thalhimer, Director of Business Development at AES, the environmental implications are substantial—this system covers most of the brewery’s on-site energy use.

Financially, Omni Brewing is set to benefit significantly from its solar production. The brewery anticipates saving thousands annually on utility bills, a figure that will only increase as utility rates escalate over time. With these savings, Walsh expressed intentions to reinvest the funds back into the business, highlighting the dual benefits of sustainability and profitability.

A Model for Other Businesses

Ultimately, Walsh encourages other businesses contemplating similar energy shifts to take the leap, noting, "It's been a solid step forward for our sustainability goals, and we recommend this setup to any business considering the same move." Omni Brewing’s journey exemplifies how businesses can meet energy demands while championing sustainability, setting a powerful precedent for the brewing industry.
