Waystar Welcomes Alpana Wegner as New Chief Financial Officer to Propel Growth
On July 29, 2026, Waystar, a prominent player in healthcare payment software, revealed the appointment of Alpana Wegner as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective August 1, 2026. This strategic move comes as the company aims to continue its expansion trajectory and enhance the value of its extensive platform. Alpana Wegner is not a new face in the financial world; she brings over 25 years of experience in finance and operational leadership roles within the tech industry. Her track record includes serving as CFO for several publicly traded companies, which positions her uniquely to contribute to Waystar’s ongoing growth.
The announcement was made by Matt Hawkins, CEO of Waystar, who expressed enthusiasm about Wegner joining the team after a comprehensive national search for the right candidate. He highlighted her success in guiding public technology firms through periods of significant development and operational efficiency, aligning well with Waystar’s current objectives. “As we expand the reach of our platform and work towards realizing the full potential of our autonomous revenue cycle, Alpana will play a crucial role in steering our financial organization,” he stated.
Wegner is stepping into the role previously held by Steve Oreskovich, who has been the CFO for the past eight years. Oreskovich is transitioning out of his position for personal reasons but will remain associated with the company as an advisory figure until June 15, 2027, ensuring a smooth handover during this significant period.
Hawkins took the opportunity to commend Oreskovich’s contributions, which have been pivotal in reaching major financial milestones, including the company’s successful initial public offering.
Before joining Waystar, Wegner was the CFO of Integral Ad Science, a global media technology firm, and she also held CFO roles at Secureworks, a cybersecurity company, and Benefitfocus, a software platform specializing in employee benefits administration. Her previous experience at Blackbaud, a publicly traded cloud software provider, further bolsters her background in the technology sector.
Wegner’s academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Arizona State University, setting a solid foundation for her financial acumen.
Waystar is on a mission to simplify healthcare payments, enabling providers to prioritize patient care while optimizing their financial performance. The company serves over 30,000 clients, including many notable healthcare institutions, processing more than 7.5 billion healthcare payment transactions annually. This includes managing over $2.4 trillion in gross claims, thus impacting roughly 60% of U.S. patients and one in three U.S. hospital discharges. Waystar aims to transform the landscape of healthcare payments, allowing providers to refocus on what matters most—patient care and community service.
As the healthcare payment industry continues to evolve, Alpana Wegner’s leadership is anticipated to drive Waystar into its next chapter, focusing on capitalizing on the many opportunities that lie ahead.
