In a notable move to support the renewable energy landscape, OCI Energy decided to invest $250,000 in scholarships and internships for students at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). As leading developers in the solar and battery energy storage projects, OCI Energy recognizes the pressing need for skilled professionals to drive the energy transition. The scholarship funding will be split to provide annual assistance for deserving students enrolled in various engineering programs, specifically with concentrations on renewable energy solutions.

This pledge aligns with OCI Energy's proposal to partner with CPS Energy, the largest municipally owned utility in the U.S., to develop a major battery energy storage system. The project, a 120 MW / 480 MWh facility, is expected to enhance grid reliability and ensure economic growth within the San Antonio region. From the fall of 2025 through the fall of 2029, UTSA's Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design will award two students each year with $10,000 scholarships focused on renewable energy engineering. Additionally, students majoring in Business Management, Economics, or Political Science with an interest in renewable energy will also be eligible for a separate $10,000 scholarship.

Beyond financial support, OCI Energy plans to offer internships to undergraduate and graduate students from UTSA, facilitating their transition into potential full-time roles post-graduation.
