Celebrating 40 Years of Kimagure Orange Road Pilot Anime

Kimagure Orange Road Pilot Anime 40th Anniversary Exhibition will be held at
Yurakucho Marui in Tokyo from
May 23 to June 7, 2026. Officially organized by
VISION8 (EDITION88 Art Gallery), the exhibition invites both long-time fans and newcomers to experience the nostalgic world of this iconic series.

A Showcase of History
The exhibition will feature an in-depth presentation of the original pilot anime created for the
Jump Special Anime Daikoushin event in 1985, alongside
color illustrations and
rough sketches from
Akemi Takada, the character designer for the anime. Attendees can also look forward to exclusive new illustrations that will have their debut at this exhibition.
Special Merchandise
Merchandise that evokes nostalgia will be available for purchase, including new items featuring illustrations from yesteryears and anime setting materials. The exhibition promises a unique shopping experience that combines collectibles and memorabilia from the iconic series.

Adding to the excitement, on June 6, 2026,
Akemi Takada will hold a signing event for fans who purchase items worth over ¥5,000. This is an exceptional opportunity to meet the artist, get her autograph, and cherish a special moment with the community.

Event Timeline
The exhibition will display an array of original artwork from
Akemi Takada along with previously unreleased new illustrations. The showcase will also include a screening of the
pilot version's opening and ending sequences, along with precious PV footage created by Matsumoto himself, enriching the nostalgia.
In addition to the original sketches and over
60 pieces of artwork dating back to the creation of the series, the exhibition introduces two brand-new illustrations that capture the essence of "Kimagure Orange Road".
