DriveTime and Girl Gang Garage Unite to Empower Women Through Van Donation

In a remarkable show of community support, DriveTime partnered with Girl Gang Garage this past Saturday, March 26, to celebrate the donation of a fully refurbished van to Maggie's Place. This initiative, which signifies the culmination of the Women for Change project, highlights the impactful collaboration between these organizations aimed at empowering women and families in need.

The initiative was sparked last summer when ten dedicated women from various Reconditioning Centers, alongside members of SilverRock, came together at Girl Gang Garage. Under the guidance of mechanic Bogi, they contributed over 250 hours to transform the donated van into a vehicle ready to support vulnerable mothers and their children.

Generous contributions from U Pull U Pay, which provided the van, and Advance Auto Parts, which supplied necessary parts for the refurbishment, were critical to ensuring the vehicle was restored to a reliable and safe condition. This teamwork exemplifies the spirit of cooperation that defined the project.

Robyn Jordan, Head of People at DriveTime, articulated the company's vision: "At DriveTime, we believe in creating opportunities that improve lives. Partnering with Girl Gang Garage and Maggie's Place allowed us to make a tangible difference in the lives of women and families. This van is more than a vehicle; it symbolizes empowerment, independence, and hope."

Maggie's Place, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting homeless pregnant women, provides safe housing and a nurturing environment. Their mission is to equip these women with the resources necessary to thrive during and after their pregnancies. CEO Laura Magruder expressed immense gratitude for the van donation, saying, "Maggie's Place is honored to be the recipient of this van, refurbished by women for women. I want to thank everyone involved, including DriveTime, Women for Change, Bogi's Garage, and all the amazing women who volunteered countless hours to bring this project to fruition. Your support means the world to our moms and their babies."

The official presentation of the van took place at Maggie's Place headquarters, where community members gathered to witness the culmination of this impactful collaboration. Attendees had the chance to see firsthand the difference this project will make in the lives of those directly benefitting from it, signaling a powerful reminder of the importance of community activism.
