On August 20, 2025, Wrigleyville will transform into a pickleball paradise as the Chicago Slice hosts Paddle in the Park, a remarkable showcase of professional pickleball talent at Gallagher Way. This event promises to be electric, bringing together leading pros from Major League Pickleball and the Carvana PPA Tour, presenting an extraordinary opportunity for fans to witness the sport at its peak.

What to Expect at Paddle in the Park


The excitement is palpable as Paddle in the Park prepares to welcome some of the most renowned players in the pickleball community. Among the stars headlining the event is Anna Leigh Waters, currently ranked as World No. 1 by Paddletek. Fans will also be thrilled to see Jack Munro, Connor Garnett, and Leigh Waters take the court, battling against the beloved Chicago Slice team, comprised of James Ignatowich, Vivian Glozman, Max Freeman, and Callie Smith.

The event not only showcases the skills of the players but also aims to promote and celebrate the fast-growing sport of pickleball, recognized for its fun and competitive nature. The structure of the event is designed to cater to both seasoned fans and newcomers, making it accessible to everyone.

Free Play and Match Details


Open play for enthusiasts kicks off at 1 PM, giving the public a chance to engage directly with the sport before the exhibition matches begin at 4:35 PM. Attendees holding tickets for the Chicago Cubs game against the Milwaukee Brewers will have free access to Paddle in the Park, making it a perfect addition to a day of baseball and fun.

Ron Saslow, Co-Owner and Managing Director of Chicago Slice, emphasizes the importance of this gathering: "It's a rare chance to see pickleball played at the highest level, right in the heart of Chicago and just steps from Wrigley Field. Paddle in the Park will be a true celebration of competition, access, and community."

Exciting Extras and Community Engagement


As part of the festivities surrounding Paddle in the Park, all participating professionals will hold exclusive clinics on the evening prior to the event, on August 19. These clinics will take place at five premier pickleball venues throughout the Chicago area, including Sure Shot Pickleball in Naperville, SPF in Lincoln Park, Pickleball Clubhouse in Irving Park, The Picklr in Villa Park, and one more venue yet to be disclosed.

Moreover, a special moment for fans will occur when Anna Leigh Waters is set to throw the ceremonial first pitch at Wrigley Field ahead of the Cubs game that evening, merging the excitement of pickleball with the rich sports culture of Chicago.
