In a groundbreaking collaboration among Japan Airlines (JAL), Sumitomo Corporation, Soracle, and Osaka Metro, an immersive theater titled "SoraCruise" will open its doors at Osaka Port's Vertiport, starting March 8, 2026. This project builds on the success of the SoraCruise experience, originally showcased at the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, which captured the fascination of over 130,000 visitors.

The SoraCruise immersive theater invites guests to experience the thrill of flying in a "flying car." Utilizing state-of-the-art visuals, surround sound, and vibrations, attendees can feel as if they are actually soaring high above various landscapes, including the skyline of Osaka. This exhibition aligns with JAL's vision for the future, as outlined in the "JAL FUTURE MAP," which emphasizes advancements in air mobility.

The event will also feature models of the flying cars planned for commercial operation in Osaka Bay Area by Soracle by 2027, complemented by informative displays and videos that introduce attendees to the forefront of next-generation mobility. With the anticipation building around the Osaka-Kansai Expo's legacy, visitors can expect a unique glimpse into a future where air travel becomes a reality.

Event Details

The immersive theater will run from March 8 to March 25, 2026, at the "SoraCru Lab" located within a hangar at the Osaka Port Vertiport, specifically at 1-105 Kaigan-dori, Minato-ku, Osaka City. Access is convenient, with a roughly 12-minute walk from Exit 1 of Osaka Metro's Chuo Line at "Osaka Port" station.

SoraCruise Overview

The revamped SoraCruise theater allows participants to relive the exhilarating experience of aerial navigation over Osaka and Kansai in a more compact setting. Each session lasts approximately 15 minutes and offers immersive audio-visual presentations that recreate the sensations of riding a flying vehicle. In addition to the main screening, guests can engage in digital drawing activities centered around flying cars.

The theater features four screens — front, left and right sides, and the floor — with dimensions of 5.0 meters wide by 3.4 meters high and 5.7 meters deep, scaled down to about 70% of the original display used during the expo. Sony PCL Corporation is responsible for the project’s planning and production.
