The JPI Seminar: Innovations for 'Green Growth'
On February 3, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, the Japan Planning Institute (JPI) will host an insightful seminar featuring Mr. Takayuki Doi, Director of the Planning Division under the Forestry Agency. This event aims to elucidate Japan's efforts toward 'Green Growth' in the forestry, logging, and wood industry sectors, along with the budget for fiscal year 2028.
Background of the Seminar
Forests play a crucial role in mitigating global warming through carbon absorption while also contributing to national land conservation and the maintenance of water sources. They provide myriad ecosystem services, which are increasingly crucial for economic activities in the era of climate change and the demand for transparency in natural capital reporting. Consequently, sustainable forest management practices and interest in timber production are attracting significant attention from industries and corporations alike.
The Forestry Agency's ambition is to harness the inherent sustainability within the forestry and wood industries to facilitate growth and progress toward 'Green Growth.' The agency is committed to promoting the 'Forest Nation, Wooden Town' initiative that encourages the cyclic utilization of forest resources and urban wooden structures.
