Visa and Trip.com Introduce Global Virtual Travel Card Program
In response to the increasing travel demand in the Asia-Pacific region, Visa, a global leader in digital payments, has collaborated with Trip.com Group to unveil a Global Virtual Travel Card Program. This strategic initiative aims to create a seamless experience for consumers and partners when booking and paying for their travels.
Launched in Singapore, the program will soon expand to the Netherlands and Hong Kong. The introduction of this virtual travel card will support travel-related businesses, hotels, and agencies in processing payments more securely and efficiently, ultimately enhancing the overall experience for travelers.
Under this partnership, Visa and Trip.com Group will implement several key initiatives:
1.
Integration of Visa’s Virtual Card Authentication: This will be rolled out across Trip.com Group’s global operations, aiming to streamline B2B payment flows and reduce manual reconciliation tasks. Furthermore, this initiative will increase data visibility for travel partners.
2.
Joint Marketing Efforts: Together, the companies will engage in cooperative marketing strategies intended to connect travelers to numerous destinations and experiences while supporting the resurgence of international travel.
3.
Improved Booking and Payment Environment: Trip.com Group aims to enhance card acceptance capabilities and reliability of payment processes on its platform, enabling travelers to reserve and pay for services from anywhere in the world effortlessly.
The motivation behind this partnership is a noticeable rise in consumer confidence regarding travel. According to a Visa survey, 55% of consumers in the Asia-Pacific region plan to travel within the next six months, with Japan, China, and Australia emerging as popular destinations. Credit cards remain the preferred method of payment for international transactions due to their safety, global usability, and associated benefits. Enhancing payment flows is becoming increasingly vital for both travelers and the travel industry.
Arturo Planell, Senior Vice President of Visa Global/Regional Sellers & Digital Sales and Country Manager for Southeast Asia, commented,
“Travel should be an exciting experience, not a complicated one. By partnering with Trip.com Group, we are committed to providing simpler, safer payment solutions for travelers and the travel industry, removing friction, and facilitating a seamless experience across the global travel ecosystem.”
Zhe Wang, Vice President of Trip.com Group’s fintech division, stated,
“We are excited to collaborate with Visa to offer more efficient and convenient payment solutions to our global partners and customers. Together, we will enhance every stage of the travel experience while supporting the ongoing recovery of the tourism industry.”
