Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Expresses Gratitude to Vice President Harris
On January 24, 2025, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. proudly aligned with the Black Women's Leadership Collective and an incredible cohort of over 10,000 Black women leaders to convey their heartfelt gratitude towards Vice President Kamala Harris. This expression of appreciation was formalized in an open letter, which acknowledges Harris's significant contributions not only to the nation but specifically to Black women and girls across America.
In the letter, the sorority reflects on her remarkable journey as the first Black woman to occupy the Vice Presidency and recognizes the legacy of strength, resilience, and leadership she has established. Dr. Stacie NC Grant, the President and CEO of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, emphasized the importance of Harris's public address during the Grand Boule gathering in Indianapolis on July 24, 2024. This meeting marked Harris's first appearance as both the sitting Vice President and the anticipated Democratic Party Presidential nominee, further highlighting her unwavering influence in political spheres.
Harris’s 2020 candidacy mobilized Black women in unprecedented ways, showcasing their powerful role in the political landscape. The community rallied vigorously to support her, demonstrating commitment, solidarity, and a collective vision for justice and equality. The letter reads, "Dear Vice President Harris, on behalf of numerous Black women across this nation and beyond, we want to express our deepest gratitude for your service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to justice and equity. Your historic role as the first woman, as well as the first Black and South Asian woman to serve in this capacity, is an inspiring beacon of hope for us all."
