This year’s exhibition will feature works from notable creators, including Hirotaka Komatsu and Kensei Miyoshi, along with the Spline Design Hub. The exhibition aims to blend the beauty of robotics with creative expression, continuing the exploration that began last year with their collaborative project with Siro Inc., Footsteps of Time.

Spline Design Hub's Contribution

The piece presented by Spline Design Hub, Cadence of the Spiral, draws inspiration from the mainspring and hairspring discovered in mechanical watches. This innovative work transforms the commonly overlooked components of watch mechanics into an art form that resonates with rhythm and movement.

When one gently lifts Cadence of the Spiral, the subtle shifts reflect the slightest of movements, suggesting a life of its own. Constructed with multiple arms supporting a long, flexible stainless steel spiral structure, each arm allows for independent elongation and contraction, resulting in a dynamic tension and release. This interplay between tension and flexion generates an ever-evolving order, depicting the contours of time in motion.

The piece allows viewers to engage with the invisible essence of time itself, beautifully illustrating the continuous passage and the constant movement within.

Statement from Yusuke Kamiyama

Yusuke Kamiyama expresses the vision behind Cadence of the Spiral, highlighting that it is not just a mechanical assembly but a vessel that embodies the rhythm of time. He invites viewers to experience the delicate ballet of design and engineering in a fresh light. The project aligns with Spline Design Hub's ethos of merging technology and emotion in design, fostering a connection between the two realms.
