Discover the New A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Date in Pink Gold: A Timeless Marvel

A. Lange & Söhne Unveils the New Zeitwerk Date Model

A. Lange & Söhne has recently announced an exquisite new model of its renowned mechanical digital watch, the Zeitwerk Date. This elegant timepiece marks the first instance within the Zeitwerk family to feature a warm pink gold case paired with a sleek grey dial.

A Quick Look Back: The Zeitwerk Family

The story of the Zeitwerk began in 2009, when A. Lange & Söhne introduced what many considered to be a groundbreaking watch in the world of precision timekeeping. The Zeitwerk was celebrated for its unique digital display, integrating a sophisticated mechanical movement that turned heads among watch enthusiasts worldwide. Beyond simply catering to traditionalists, the Zeitwerk has appealed to those who appreciate innovative concepts and unconventional solutions in horology.

Introducing the Zeitwerk Date

Launched in 2019, the Zeitwerk Date features not only the stunning digital display but also introduces an innovative date ring encircling the dial. This glass ring displays numbers from 1 to 31, indicating the date in a clear and intuitive manner. A small red segment sits beneath the date ring, advancing precisely at midnight—a vivid feature allowing wearers to instantly identify the date at a glance. To adjust the date, users simply press a button located at the 8 o’clock position. This unique mechanism enables the red segment to advance immediately upon release of the button.

A Striking Design

After the introduction of the white gold model six years ago, this new pink gold Zeitwerk Date is a welcome addition to the family. With both models featuring grey dials, this stylish digital watch radiates sophistication. From a visibility perspective, the large windows displaying hours and minutes are arranged from left to right, offering an easy-to-read layout. The patented digital display mechanism functions with such precision that it changes the displayed numbers instantaneously—up to 1,440 times a day.

Users can advance the hour display using the adjustment button positioned at 4 o’clock. This button cleverly disconnects the hour ring from the digital display mechanism, allowing for seamless adjustments while maintaining the integrity of the movement. Just like the date function, releasing the adjustment button powers the necessary transitions.

The Timeless Time Bridge

A standout feature of the Zeitwerk series is the time bridge made of nickel silver, which is not just a visual highlight but serves a functional role as well. This design element encompasses and connects all time display features, ensuring an integrated and harmonious look.

Impressive Performance

What powers the incredible digital display is a robust twin barrel, controlled by a patented power management mechanism that provides ample energy for transitioning the numbers. An inherent fly governor protects the display from excessive energy output, supplying necessary power every 60 seconds. This highly functional mechanism optimizes the stability of the timekeeping, maintaining consistent performance until the power reserve is depleted.

According to Anthony de Haas, Director of Product Development, “The Zeitwerk Date adds a distinct and modern character to A. Lange & Söhne's horological expertise. At precisely midnight, it puts on a remarkable show as all three digital displays and the date ring transition simultaneously. You can feel its strength and precision through the case at that moment.”

The Heart of the Zeitwerk Date: Caliber L043.8

At the core of the Zeitwerk Date lies the A. Lange & Söhne's in-house caliber L043.8, which operates at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hertz). This hand-wound movement, featuring twin barrels and two mainspring barrels, ensures a power reserve of up to 72 hours. The pink gold case measures 44.2 mm in diameter and 12.3 mm in thickness, beautifully complementing the grey dial. The sapphire crystal case back showcases the meticulously finished movement, comprising 516 individual parts, highlighting the art of watchmaking. The components are adorned with exquisite finishes, including a sunburst finish on the axis wheel engraved with the brand name and delicately crafted power control springs, which together create a beautiful composition of materials and surfaces.
