Texas State Optical Announces New Leadership with Interim CEO Appointment
Texas State Optical Welcomes New Leadership
On July 2, 2025, Texas State Optical, Inc. (TSO) held its Annual Meeting at the Grand Hyatt Riverwalk in San Antonio. The event gathered shareholder doctors from across Texas to discuss the organization's achievements and future plans. One of the key highlights was the election of new board members along with the appointment of a new Interim CEO and President.
The newly elected Board of Directors includes Dr. Brian Shandley and Dr. Victoria Perez, both set to serve their first three-year terms. Their presence on the board brings a mix of freshness and experience that is expected to invigorate the governance of TSO. Additionally, Dr. Samir Patel has been re-elected for a consecutive term, ensuring continuity in leadership.
In a noteworthy change, Dr. James K. Kirchner was elected as an outside director, taking over from Edward C. Buffington, whose third term concluded. Dr. Kirchner's extensive background in the optometric field and experience in corporate governance will be invaluable as TSO navigates the complexities of the industry.
A significant shift in leadership also came with the announcement that Cindy Huynh would serve as the Interim CEO and President, following the resignation of John D. Marvin, who had successfully led the organization for 25 years. Cindy, who has been the Director of Operations since 2014, brings more than thirty years of experience in the optometric sector, along with a deep understanding of TSO’s operational dynamics.
"It’s an honor to lead an organization that I’ve been part of for over a decade," expressed Cindy Huynh. Her respect for TSO’s doctors and history, coupled with her eagerness to collaborate with the board and network, sets a positive tone for her interim leadership. Cindy's vision includes empowering doctors and enhancing patient care across Texas, affirming TSO's commitment to being the first choice for eye care services.
Reflecting on his time with TSO, John D. Marvin praised Cindy for her operational expertise and integrity, stating, "Her leadership will be crucial as TSO embarks on this next chapter."
As the new board and interim CEO take charge, TSO recommits to its mission of providing exceptional eye care while supporting its community of doctors and patients. With unity and purpose guiding their goals, TSO looks forward to continuing its legacy of excellence in eye care and further strengthening its network.
