SANY's Historic Move in Australia
In a groundbreaking development for green energy, SANY Group has officially delivered its first hydrogen refueling project in Australia. This project, established through a strategic partnership with an Australian client in April 2024, marks a significant milestone for SANY as it promotes its innovative technology on an international stage after successfully launching the largest integrated hydrogen production and refueling station in China.
Advanced Hydrogen Production Technology
The project features state-of-the-art hydrogen production technology, utilizing flexible electrolysis methods that are at the forefront of the industry. It is augmented by a comprehensive control system that guarantees stability and operational efficiency. Designed for high performance, the equipment consists of a dual-stage supercharging system capable of storing hydrogen at pressures of 50 MPa and 90 MPa. This unique system can simultaneously serve commercial vehicles refueled at 35 MPa and passenger vehicles at 70 MPa. This means that whether for freight transportation or daily commutes, vehicles can be refueled quickly and safely at this integrated station.
Ensuring Compliance with Global Standards
In preparation for a smooth market entry in Australia, SANY has ensured that the project adheres strictly to local and international production standards. The entire equipment has received certifications from Bureau Veritas (BV) and TÜV SÜD, confirming compliance with the highest Australian safety standards, including:
- - Electrical Safety Certification AS 3000: Following the rigorous class 2 standard.
- - ASME/AS1200 Certification: Pressure vessels meet both American and Australian standards, with an ASME U3 stamp. The equipment's fatigue life exceeds 20,000 cycles.
- - Hydrogen Refueling Protocol SAE J2601: This protocol adheres to international filling standards, allowing passenger vehicles to be refueled at 70 MPa within three minutes.
Safety-Driven Development Process
SANY's commitment to safety is evident in its development process, which is based on advanced design principles combined with a rigorous risk assessment protocol. During the development phase, the project team undertook thorough risk evaluations and checks of the hydrogen production and purification systems as well as the high-pressure refueling systems. This included identifying hazards, studying operational risks, assessing safety integrity levels, and analyzing protective measures. Such analytical approaches facilitate early risk identification, laying the groundwork for safe and resilient hydrogen solutions.
A Path to Sustainable Development
Through innovative technology, stringent safety standards, and global collaboration, SANY's success in Australia signifies a crucial step forward in sustainable development. The company remains focused on clean energy and is making strides in wind, solar, hydrogen, energy storage, and microgrid technologies.
Xiang Wenbo, president of SANY Heavy Industry, underscores the company's mission: "SANY is accelerating its transition towards decarbonization and green growth, contributing a green force to the industry." With the global energy landscape shifting towards sustainability, SANY's initiatives not only represent a significant advancement in hydrogen energy but also a broader commitment to a greener future.
