Recognizing Excellence in Elderly Welfare
Recently, the Todoroki no Ie nursing home, operated by the For You Social Welfare Corporation in Setagaya, Tokyo, has been honored with the Outstanding Award at the 20th Active Welfare in Tokyo’25 Conference. Under the leadership of Director Shingo Tawanda, this facility showcased its commitment to safeguarding lives through a rigorous disaster preparedness exercise.
This initiative specifically focused on one of the most pressing challenges facing elderly care facilities: vertical evacuation in case of disasters. Staff and residents came together in a realistic training environment to practice these critical skills. The comprehensive training plan aimed for zero casualties and included meticulous route design, as well as the use of videos for reflection and analysis, which greatly impressed the judges. One judge exclaimed that this program is “a practical model that should be emulated by welfare facilities nationwide.”
The recognition received is particularly noteworthy as this marks the second consecutive year that For You has been awarded; they also won an Outstanding Award at last year’s conference. This achievement symbolizes the accumulation of practical knowledge derived from the field, reflecting the trust the local community has in their capabilities.
Gratitude and Future Commitment
The management extends heartfelt gratitude to the local community for their understanding and cooperation in this endeavor, and to everyone who attended the event. For You Corporation pledges to continue their commitment as “frontline welfare alongside the community,” robustly advancing efforts toward safety and security in elderly care.
