MSC World America Officially Launched in Celebration-Filled Ceremony in Miami

MSC World America Officially Named in Miami

On April 9, 2025, MSC Cruises celebrated the official naming of its flagship vessel, MSC World America, in a spectacular ceremony held at the newly inaugurated MSC Miami Cruise Terminal, the largest of its kind globally. The event highlighted MSC's commitment to expanding its footprint in the North American market, showcasing the brand's dedication to delivering unparalleled cruising experiences.

In attendance at the ceremony was Drew Barrymore, the vessel's Godmother, who had the honor of performing the ceremonial ribbon cutting and christening of the ship by breaking a champagne bottle against its bow. Alongside her was Orlando Bloom, her co-star in the widely recognized “Let’s Holiday” advertising campaign, which premiered during the Super Bowl.

In her remarks, Barrymore expressed her excitement, stating, “It’s such an honor to be MSC World America’s Godmother. I have a lifelong passion for travel, and I’m thrilled to share that excitement with future guests who will create lasting memories on this beautiful ship.”

The Naming Ceremony was a landmark occasion that drew esteemed travel partners, international media representatives, and influential dignitaries from across the globe. The evening featured vibrant live performances, heartfelt speeches, and a gala dinner celebrating MSC’s innovative approach to cruising. The highlight of the night was a stunning drone and fireworks display against the Miami skyline.

Following the ceremony, guests boarded MSC World America for a celebratory voyage to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC’s private island in the Caribbean. It was here that attendees experienced a vibrant beach party featuring a DJ, as well as Ocean Cay’s well-known evening lighthouse show.
