Promoting Community Engagement Through Job Matching in Kanagawa Prefecture

Community Engagement Initiative in Kanagawa

On July 23, 2026, Pasona JOB HUB will be hosting a significant event aimed at connecting urban residents interested in side jobs with local businesses in the Kanagawa Prefecture. This initiative is part of the "New Community Engagement Project" commissioned by Kanagawa Prefecture, which recognizes the urgent need for innovative partnerships to combat issues such as population decline and workforce shortages in the region.

The event will take place both in-person at POTLUCK YAESU in Tokyo and online via Zoom, and is designed for company employees and freelancers who are keen to contribute to community innovation. Participants will have the unique opportunity to learn about how they can form meaningful relationships with the Kanagawa area's businesses and initiatives.

Background of the Initiative

The region comprising Odawara City, Minami Ashigara City, Nakai Town, Oi Town, Matsuda Town, Yamakita Town, Kaisei Town, Hakone Town, Manazuru Town, and Yugawara Town has been witnessing rapid population decline and talent shortages. Since 2014, the Kanagawa Prefecture has been actively working on various projects aimed at promoting migration, settlement, and enhanced community ties to innovate and invigorate the area.

Pasona JOB HUB’s commitment to this cause includes facilitating the collaboration between urban professionals seeking side jobs and local businesses, thus fostering a new kind of community-based workforce.
