Bridgestone Partners with SCCA to Enhance Grassroots Motorsports Experience
In an exciting development for motorsports enthusiasts, Bridgestone Americas has secured a three-year partnership with the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) as its Official Tire and sole tire supplier for the SCCA Club Spec program. This landmark agreement signals a significant commitment to enhancing grassroots motorsports, aimed at reducing the barriers for entry into racing and ensuring that the excitement of motorsports is accessible to all.
As the official tire supplier, Bridgestone will provide its championship-winning Potenza RE-71RZ tire, which will be utilized in various SCCA Club Spec competitions including the popular Solo Spec Coupe, Club Spec MX-5, and Club Spec Mustang. Notably, the Potenza RE-71RZ will also serve as the official tire for the upcoming Club Spec Cayman class, set to debut in 2027. This tire is renowned for its performance, offering superior responsiveness and speed, making it ideal for both serious competitors and those new to the sport.
David Colletti, President of Consumer Original Equipment Tires, North America at Bridgestone Americas, remarked, "Bridgestone and the SCCA share a core commitment to making motorsports accessible, educational, and fun. This partnership enhances our involvement in the racing community and allows us to provide top-tier performance every weekend."
The Potenza RE-71RZ is classified as an extreme performance tire, designed specifically for grassroots racing. Throughout the 2026 season, Bridgestone’s performance tires achieved remarkable success, winning approximately 75% of class victories and commanding 70% of podium finishes in national events. These impressive figures underscore the tire's performance advantages and Bridgestone's impact on the racing circuit.
Bridgestone's revival of its partnership with SCCA is celebrated by SCCA’s Vice President of Rally, Solo and Experiential Programs, Heyward Wagner, who noted that the brand was a significant supporter of SCCA Solo competitors two decades ago. This historical context has generated excitement and eagerness among SCCA members, who look forward to mutual collaboration in promoting motorsport activities that are competitive, accessible, and enjoyable for all participants.
The goals of this partnership extend beyond mere tire provision; Bridgestone aims to actively support community engagement initiatives. This includes programs like Track Night in America, an initiative that allows drivers of varying skill levels to partake in racing experiences, and SCCA Women on Track, which encourages increased female participation in motorsports.
In addition, Bridgestone and SCCA have committed to developing educational programs and providing trackside support, ensuring that both seasoned racers and novices can benefit from this collaboration. Together, they aspire to cultivate an environment that fuels the sporting spirit, while inspiring the next generation of motorsport talent in America.
Bridgestone Americas operates from its headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee, as the U.S. subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation, a global leader in tire manufacturing that has a longstanding dedication to safe and sustainable mobility solutions. Founded in 1944, the SCCA boasts a membership of 67,500 and organizes over 2,000 events annually, making it a cornerstone of American motorsports since its inception. Through this alliance, both Bridgestone and SCCA aim to solidify a bright future for grassroots motorsports, pairing high-performance technology with community-driven initiatives.
This partnership marks a pivotal point in Bridgestone's journey within the motorsports arena, showcasing a commitment to delivering exceptional performance while prioritizing community involvement and accessibility in the world of competitive racing.
