KAILAS Partners with FWT China Series to Launch New Freeride Ski Season
KAILAS Becomes Title Sponsor of the FWT China Series
On October 14, 2026, KAILAS held a thrilling event named BEYOND THE GATE | KAILAS SNOW SEASON OPENING NIGHT in Guangzhou. This event not only marked the opening of the 2026/27 ski season but also served as the official announcement that KAILAS would take on the role of title sponsor for the Freeride World Tour (FWT) China Series during this upcoming season.
KAILAS, a brand synonymous with outdoor adventure and extreme sports, is elevating its connection to freeride skiing this year by enhancing its partnership with the FWT from previous seasons. This collaboration aims to bring freeride skiing to the forefront of the sports community in China, presenting a unique opportunity for local athletes to engage in a global competition pathway that emphasizes natural terrains and individual skill.
Freeride skiing differs significantly from traditional skiing as it takes place in un-groomed natural environments. Athletes have the challenges of assessing conditions and navigating paths based on their skills and risk management—an exhilarating experience that KAILAS aims to promote. The FWT China Series will feature events at Jikepulin Ski Resort in Hemu, Altay in Xinjiang, with competitions scheduled for December 9-15, 2026, and again from February 26 to March 3, 2027. This initiative is designed not only for seasoned riders but also to encourage emerging talents in the extremely demanding sport of freeride skiing.
In addition to competitive events, KAILAS is focused on building a community around the skiing culture through the BEYOND THE GATE project. This initiative strives to connect skiers with the mountain culture, providing educational opportunities and professional guidance. KAILAS plans to gather coaches, guides, and experienced mountain skiers to enhance skiing experiences for enthusiasts, promoting safe practices and awareness of the mountain environments.
The program includes ski lessons, backcountry safety education, and community-sharing activities aimed at fostering a well-informed and prepared skier populace. By sharing expertise and experiences, KAILAS encourages skiers to explore the mountains responsibly with respect and understanding of the conditions they face.
Moreover, KAILAS continues to push the boundaries of product development. Last season, the brand tested its BM45 freeride collection in Hemu, highlighting the combination of performance and safety in extreme conditions. Alongside this, KAILAS presented its TAIGA ski apparel, specifically designed for cold weather. This collection offers windproof and thermal protection, featuring a helmet-compatible hood, powder skirt, and integrated RECCO® technology, enhancing safety for wearers in potential rescue scenarios during avalanches or in case of getting lost outdoors.
To increase skier confidence in navigating challenging mountain terrains, KAILAS is committed to collaborating with professional coaches and avalanche safety specialists. They will provide various educational resources such as backcountry safety sessions, ski courses, and community-oriented activities. Additionally, KAILAS is expanding its destination service offerings in locales like Songhua Lake and Hemu, facilitating connections between skiers and local guides while offering equipment recommendations.
Through these competition partnerships, technical advancements, and ground support services, KAILAS aims to nurture the growth of freeride skiing across China and assist skiers in discovering the mountains with comprehensive knowledge, proper preparation, and utmost respect for nature.
