The Heartwarming Journey of Rescue Dogs

For over a decade, Wahl® has collaborated with Greater Good Charities, a global nonprofit organization, to find shelter dogs that are in dire need of care. This year marked the 14th iteration of the Dirty Dogs Contest, during which shelter organizations across the country have showcased their best rescue stories through stunning before-and-after grooming photos.

Voting is open until June 13, 2025, allowing participants to comment #WahlDirtyDogsContest on their favorite video as many times as they wish. Additionally, each comment submitted is a chance to enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a Wahl® Pets Prize Pack.

The winning dog will be awarded a $10,000 grant for its shelter, while the second and third place dogs will receive $3,000 and $2,000 grants respectively—funds crucial for supporting adoption initiatives and helping even more dogs find loving homes.

The stories of the three finalists are not just heartwarming; they highlight the transformative power of grooming:

• - Gizmo: Rescued from a dark basement, Gizmo was found enveloped in painful matted fur. After a meticulous grooming session that removed over two pounds of matting, Gizmo emerged as a joyful little dog, ready to embrace life and seek a loving home.

• - Mattie: Found in a hoarding situation, Mattie's transformation was nothing short of miraculous. Once confined and covered in painful mats and burns, she received the care she desperately needed. Now, she enjoys a life filled with love and safety in her adoptive family's home.

• - Lenny Kravitz: This cheerful dog, once covered in ticks and matted fur, underwent a significant makeover. After losing five pounds of fur, Lenny has found his joyful new life in Pennsylvania, living comfortably and enjoying new adventures.
