Embrace the Joy of Farming in Showa Village
On June 6, 2023, the Gunma Palsystem Co-op will be hosting an engaging farming experience event in Showa Village, offering families the chance to connect with agriculture firsthand. Starting at 8:30 AM, participants will get involved in essential farming tasks such as weeding cornfields and harvesting komatsuna.
Gathering around 70 families, this event emphasizes the hard work and joy that come with farming. It represents the first of two scheduled sessions designed to immerse participants deeply in the agricultural process. The event will be held in the field operated by Yoshihiko Miyata, a producer from the Vegetable Club, a local organization dedicated to raw agriculture in Showa Village.
In preparation for an upcoming harvest in August, families will work collaboratively on the farm, cultivating a hands-on understanding of agricultural labor. Apart from corn, participants will also gather komatsuna, a leafy vegetable well-loved in Japanese cuisine. Additionally, there will be opportunities to taste delightful products made from fresh produce, crafted by the Green Leaf Corporation, another entity of the Vegetable Club.
A Community Affair
The farming experience provides not just an educational opportunity, but also a chance for families to bond over shared tasks. Participants will engage with producers like Mr. Miyata, who will guide them through the farming processes, allowing for invaluable exchanges of gratitude and respect between consumers and producers.
The structured agenda includes:
- - Time: June 6, 2023, from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM (registration at 8:15 AM)
- - Location: Showa Village (approximately 10 minutes by car from Showa IC on the Kan-etsu Expressway)
