Bringing the Spirit of Munich's Oktoberfest to Shiba Park!
Tokyo's Shiba Park will transform into a mini-Munich from September 12 to 23, 2025, as it hosts the Oktoberfest in Shiba Park. This 12-day extravaganza promises an authentic taste of Germany, complete with festive cheer and traditional experiences. Picture yourself raising a beer stein amidst a vibrant atmosphere that feels just like being in Munich!
Immerse Yourself in the Oktoberfest Experience
The event is not just about beer; it provides a chance to don traditional attire such as dirndls and lederhosen, which are available for free rental. Capture memories with Tokyo Tower as your backdrop, immersing yourself in a travel experience without leaving the city.
The festival will feature exclusive Festbier, a special brew, along with thick German sausages and the hearty grilled fish dish, Steckerlfisch. With the sounds of a local German band echoing throughout the space, you'll be invited to both relax and celebrate with joyous toasts.
Connecting Enjoyment with Community Impact: The Oktoberfest Fund
As part of this event, the Oktoberfest Fund has been established to connect the joy of drinking to social contributions. For every beer purchased, 10 yen will be donated to support environmental initiatives. Inspired by the longstanding tradition of Oktoberfest in Munich, which values community engagement and environmental protection, the Japanese Oktoberfest executive committee aims to foster awareness of sustainability through this initiative.
The funds will be directed to the Japan Environmental Association, specifically supporting their Children’s Eco Club, which works towards promoting environmental conservation and sustainability in Japan. Participants will not only enjoy the festivities but also contribute to a greater cause—protecting our future environment through each beer they savor.
Celebrating Tradition with a Tap Ceremony
The program will kick off with a ceremonial barrel tapping on the very first day, September 12. This traditional act involves using a wooden hammer to tap into the first beer barrel, reminiscent of how it's done in Munich, where the mayor performs the honor. The chairman of the event will serve the first beer to guests, raising a toast with a hearty
Prost!
Ceremony Schedule:
- - 16:30: Opening dance - Dir Prost by ASUNA crew
- - 16:40: Greeting from the guests and chairman
- - 16:50: Tapping of the first beer and toast (Prost!)
- - 17:00: Live performance by DIE KIRCHDORFER®, the official Oktoberfest band from Munich
Taste Authentic German Cuisine
Prepare your taste buds for a culinary adventure with an array of authentic German dishes featuring imported ingredients. Savory options include crispy veal schnitzel, grilled fish skewers, and a variety of German sausages that pair perfectly with your beer. Each bite will evoke the bustling ambiance of a Munich street market, allowing you to indulge in German culinary culture within Tokyo.
Live Performances to Set the Mood
The stage will light up with performances from DIE KIRCHDORFER®, the official Oktoberfest band from Munich, bringing a piece of Germany to Shiba Park. Sing along to traditional drinking songs like
Ein Prosit while experiencing the unifying spirit that echoes the atmosphere of the Oktoberfest event in Munich. Raise your stein and join the crowd, as the thrill of togetherness ignites the celebration.
