PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Sees Significant Profit in Q2 2026



In a remarkable display of financial strength, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, commonly known as BRI, reported a net profit of IDR 31.2 trillion for the second quarter of 2026. This impressive figure represents a 17.5% increase compared to the same quarter the previous year, showcasing the bank’s robustness in navigating the dynamic landscape of Indonesia's economy and the banking sector.

Strong Growth Indicators



The bank's total assets reached an astonishing IDR 2,352 trillion, reflecting an 11.7% rise year-on-year. Additionally, loans and financing surged by 16.2%, amounting to IDR 1,646 trillion. BRI also saw its third-party funds improve by 6.7%, totaling IDR 1,581 trillion. Net interest income increased by 9.9% to IDR 80.5 trillion, while the pre-provision operating profit grew by 12.8%, reaching IDR 65.7 trillion. These results indicate that BRI’s ongoing transformation and strategies are yielding beneficial outcomes.

Hery Gunardi, the President Director of BRI, emphasized that the bank's focus is not solely on growth speed. He stated, “What matters to us is not just how fast BRI grows, but whether that growth is built on stronger fundamentals and benefits the wider economy.” This sentiment reflects BRI's commitment to sustainable development.

Financial Metrics Reflect Improvement



On a standalone basis, BRI's cost of funds dropped to 2.4%, down from 3.0% a year earlier, indicating enhanced efficiency. The Cost to Income Ratio improved significantly to 39.2% from 41.9%, showcasing a tighter control over operational costs. Furthermore, the Non-Performing Loan (NPL) ratio decreased slightly to 2.9%, maintaining strong asset quality. Notably, the Return on Assets (ROA) stood stable at around 2.7%, while the Return on Equity (ROE) surged to 18.8%, increasing notably from 16.6% year-on-year.

Commitment to MSMEs



A core focus of BRI continues to be on micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). By the end of Q2, loans directed towards MSMEs amounted to IDR 1,235.4 trillion, reflecting an 8.6% increase from the previous year and constituting a substantial 75.1% of the total loan and financing portfolio. BRI remains committed to empowering Indonesian MSMEs, providing them with necessary financial support and facilitating their growth.

As part of its MSME empowerment initiative, BRI has assisted over 5,700 villages through its Desa BRILiaN program, alongside supporting more than 44,000 business clusters via Klasterku Hidupku. Furthermore, LinkUMKM has reached approximately 17.3 million MSMEs, demonstrating BRI’s extensive outreach to key economic segments.

From January to June 2026, the bank disbursed IDR 103.8 trillion in People's Business Credit (KUR) to over two million borrowers, emphasizing its role as a crucial enabler of economic activity among small businesses across the nation.
