74th National Conference in Saga to Empower Local Youth Engagement and Innovation

74th National Conference Saga

The 74th National Conference, organized by the Japan Junior Chamber (JJC), will take place in Saga Prefecture from October 10 to 12, 2025. This marks the first time this significant event will be held in Saga, aiming to engage local youth and community leaders in discussions that address pressing social issues and inspire action.

What is the National Conference?

The National Conference is an annual event hosted by the JJC that brings together over 12,000 members from youth chambers across Japan. Since its inception in 1953, the conference has rotated through various regions, serving as a platform for members to elevate their community spirits and solve societal challenges, promoting overall enhancement of society. Additionally, it evaluates the previous year’s activities and paves the way for future endeavors.

The upcoming Saga conference is themed "Plus Ultra", which translates to "Beyond the Limits". This theme not only encapsulates the JJC's 2025 objectives but also urges participants to break through limits and step into a brighter future. In celebration of hosting the event in Saga, various commemorative projects have been organized to showcase the region's unique culture.

Engaging Events and Forums

The conference will feature several key forums and activities open to the public. These events aim to project Saga's charm to the national youth chamber members while contributing to the local community’s revitalization:

1. Memorial Forum (October 11, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM): Moderated by prominent figures such as Congressman Fumiaki Kobayashi, this forum will discuss shaping the future of cities beyond just systemic solutions, featuring perspectives on technology and lifestyle.

2. Local Breakthrough Forum (October 11, 11:15 AM - 12:25 PM): Led by business leaders including Atsushi Nakagawa from PARADE Inc., this forum aims to share challenges in promoting authentic regional brands while forging connections in global sustainable markets.

3. Child-Focused Forum (October 11, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM): This session encourages focusing on children's passions and how we can nurture them within communities, featuring insights from educational leaders and former professional baseball player Munenori Kawasaki.

Local Celebration and Activities

To complement the professional discussions, the event will also feature activities under the banner "SAGA All-Out Autumn Fest 2025" from October 11 to 12 at Sunrise Street. Attendees will experience various authentic Saga products, attend cultural displays such as pottery painting and traditional washcloth-making, and enjoy local delicacies.

Additionally, the Midnight SAGA event allows participants to savor local culinary delights in a casual outdoor setting, accompanied by DJ performances. Various locations in Saga will host this vibrant initiative, enhancing community engagement and enjoyment.

The conference will culminate in a breathtaking Balloon Experience scheduled for October 11 and 12, offering night-time tethered balloon displays and a limited-access boarding experience for JJC members on the last day.

Conclusions and A Call for Engagement

The 74th National Conference in Saga is not just a gathering; it’s a movement aimed at energizing youth participation and innovation in local communities. With the essential platform provided by the JJC, young and passionate individuals are encouraged to engage with local culture and contribute to collective growth. As attendees gather from all corners of the nation, the opportunity to share, learn, and create lasting impacts within the community is monumental.
