Verkada Appoints Mark Coates as Vice President for EMEA
Verkada, a prominent player in AI-driven physical security technology, has officially announced the appointment of Mark Coates as its new Vice President for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) region. This strategic move underscores the company's commitment to expanding its operations and enhancing its service delivery in a rapidly evolving market.
Mark Coates brings nearly three decades of extensive experience in enterprise technology and security to his new role. His previous position was as VP of EMEA at Gigamon, where he not only led the organization but also oversaw significant transformations resulting in double-digit growth in revenue. His leadership was instrumental in achieving record results for three consecutive years, earning him accolades such as the VP and Region of the Year awards from 2022 to 2024.
Before his tenure at Gigamon, Coates served as Vice President for North and West EMEA at Digital Realty, where he spearheaded a revenue increase of over 30% and played a key role in integrating Interxion following its $8.5 billion acquisition. His prior experiences include leadership roles at DTEX Systems, Veritas Technologies, Good Technology, and Symantec, where he successfully expanded EMEA sales organizations during times of significant market changes.
In his new position at Verkada, Coates will oversee the strategy and implementation of operations throughout the EMEA region. According to Eric Salava, Verkada’s Chief Financial Officer, the EMEA area represents a crucial market for the company. The demand for innovative security and operational enhancements from enterprises and rapidly growing organizations is robust, making Coates’ expertise invaluable.
"What stood out to me was the ambition of the team and the momentum they already had. I look forward to working in this crucial growth phase and helping organizations protect people and places in a rapidly evolving world," expressed Coates regarding his new role at Verkada.
Coates takes over from Ardon Anderson, who previously held the position and is moving into a new leadership role in North America. Anderson leaves behind a significantly expanded EMEA organization, having grown the business by more than 700% and successfully instituted operations in the Middle East, DACH region, and Southern Europe.
Mark Coates is scheduled to make an appearance at the VerkadaOne event in London on March 19, 2026. The conference will gather various speakers, industry experts, and partners to discuss the latest trends in cloud-based physical security.
