Zoomlion Expands Its Presence in Africa to Support Regional Infrastructure Development
In a significant move aimed at bolstering its regional operations, Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. has announced an expansion of its activities across Africa. This initiative is geared towards enhancing local infrastructure, mechanizing agriculture, and facilitating sustainable market development. The backdrop to this ambitious plan includes China’s extended zero tariff policy for 53 African nations that maintain diplomatic ties with China, alongside the upcoming China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo scheduled to take place in Morocco in 2026.
This new phase of development offers Zoomlion a strategic opportunity to strengthen local service networks and deepen collaborations with customers and partners within the African market. Recently, Zoomlion inaugurated its Moroccan subsidiary in Casablanca, marking a key milestone in its localization strategy. This new establishment is set to improve the availability of equipment, spare parts support, and service capabilities on-site, while solidifying Morocco's role as a pivotal hub for Zoomlion's operations in North Africa.
With the establishment of this subsidiary, Zoomlion aims to respond more swiftly to customer demands and provide more efficient support for projects encompassing construction, transport, ports, sports facilities, and energy throughout Morocco and the larger North African market.
Having commenced its operations in Africa back in 2007, Zoomlion is among the first Chinese heavy machinery manufacturers to venture into the continent. After nearly two decades of growth, the organization has established a significant presence across Africa, with construction machinery, mining equipment, and agricultural machines forming the cornerstone of its regional business.
Zoomlion’s machinery has played a crucial role in several major infrastructure and development projects throughout Africa, including the new administrative capital of Egypt, the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project in Tanzania, the N’Djamena Stadium in Chad, and the Rosso Bridge connecting Senegal and Mauritania. Additionally, the company has expanded its agricultural machinery presence throughout the continent, supporting local agriculture and addressing the need for mechanization and customer service.
At the upcoming China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in 2026, Zoomlion plans to unveil its flagship products of the latest generation. The company will also host professional events, including the China-Africa Seminar on the Application and Development of Agricultural Machinery, aimed at promoting dialogue regarding smart farming equipment, precision operations, and remote maintenance.
In 2025, Zoomlion experienced remarkable growth in its African business, with regional revenues soaring by 157% compared to the previous year. Moving forward, the company is poised to further bolster its local operations, enhance service capabilities, and collaborate with local partners to support infrastructure development and long-term regional growth across the African continent.
