About The Authors
Kenji Miyazawa (1896 - 1933) was born in Hanamaki, Iwate. A graduate of the Morioka Agricultural School, he began writing poetry and stories during his teens. His publications include
Spring and Asura and
The Restaurant of Many Orders, and he was a dedicated advocate for farmers’ well-being until his untimely passing at the age of 37.
Dayka Akira is a graphic designer and illustrator based in Osaka, known for her evocative illustrations in several titles of the
100-Year Classic series.
Hiroko Hamada (1893 - 1973), a childhood favorite from Takahata, was inspired to create after winning a literary competition, leading him to contribute extensively to children’s literature.
Chikichi Kikuchi, born in 1975 in Hokkaido, gained recognition with her award-winning picture books, illustrating how stories can connect deeply with both young and adult readers.
