Kazumasa Kuboki, a talented cyclist from the Aisan Racing Team supported by JPF Inc., has made headlines by winning the silver medal in the men's omnium event at the 2025 UCI Track World Championships. Held in Santiago, Chile, from October 22 to 26, this prestigious event showcased the world's best athletes in track cycling. Kuboki's performance was highlighted by a nail-biting finish, where he secured the silver medal by just a two-point margin against the top competitor.
During the championships, Kuboki also participated in other events including the team pursuit and madison, displaying his versatility as an athlete. Prior to the championships, he visited the JPF headquarters and expressed his excitement, stating, "Look forward to my performance!" His words came true as he achieved this remarkable milestone, marking his fourth consecutive year of medal-winning performances at the international level. This achievement not only reflects his exceptional skills but also underscores his resilience and competitive spirit.
Reflecting on his journey, Kuboki shared his thoughts on his performance at the championships. "I aimed for victory in the omnium, so while the silver medal is gratifying, there’s a sense of regret because I truly wanted to win. The growth I feel now—being unable to celebrate as I did when I won silver four years ago—is proof of my evolution as an athlete. I aim for gold next year," he stated. His motivation, he explained, comes from the support of the Japan Cycling Federation, HPCJC, and the inspiring performances of his peers. Now at 36 years old, Kuboki feels that his dream of becoming a late bloomer is finally materializing.
Looking ahead towards the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, Kuboki is excited about the challenges that await him. He explained, "Competing in Los Angeles will be a personal challenge. I am eager to demonstrate everything I can do with the experiences I have gained so far. Each year presents a new battle, and while I will also participate in keirin races, there are inherent risks of injury. Nevertheless, my desire to continue competing against the world's top athletes remains strong. As long as I have this determination, I will keep growing and striving for greatness."
Kazumasa Kuboki's journey is far from over. As he continues to compete at the highest levels, people can look forward to his upcoming achievements and the inspiration he brings to the world of cycling.
