West Coast Community Bank Welcomes Matthew March as New CIO to Enhance Digital Transformation
West Coast Community Bank Welcomes Matthew March as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer
West Coast Community Bank (WCCB) has recently announced the appointment of Matthew March as its new Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO). This significant addition to the team comes at a pivotal moment for the bank, as it embarks on an ambitious journey towards enhancing its technology infrastructure and cybersecurity initiatives.
Matthew March is not a newcomer to the financial services or technology sectors; he boasts over 25 years of rich experience integrating IT practices with business strategies. His new role will involve spearheading WCCB’s technology strategy, overseeing information systems, and driving innovation efforts across the organization. As part of this endeavor, he will work from the bank's main office located at 75 River Street in Santa Cruz, California.
March's extensive background showcases his capabilities in strategic IT leadership, cybersecurity, digital transformation, and regulatory compliance. His commitment to improving organizational efficiency and enhancing the client experience through secure, cutting-edge technology solutions aligns perfectly with WCCB's core values. Given the bank's emphasis on relationship-based service, March's tech-forward approach is expected to optimize operations and refine IT governance.
Krista Snelling, the President and CEO of WCCB, expressed her enthusiasm regarding March's appointment. She stated, "We’re thrilled to have Matthew join the Bank. He brings a deep knowledge of information technology, digital transformation, and cybersecurity that will benefit our clients and bolster the security of our infrastructure and the bank's success. He’s a welcomed addition to our leadership team, and we look forward to his contributions."
In his own words, March conveyed his excitement about joining WCCB during such a transformative phase. “It is an honor to join West Coast Community Bank at this exciting time in the Bank's growth,” he said. “I look forward to strengthening the company’s technology backbone and championing digital enhancements. I share the Bank's commitment to innovation, security, and operational excellence, and I am eager to collaborate with our leadership team to fulfill these goals.”
Prior to his new role at WCCB, March served as the Chief Information Officer at Sunwest Bank. His career trajectory includes holding CIO positions at prominent financial institutions such as Pacific Premier Bank and Colony American Finance. He has also contributed to Banc of California, where he held roles as both Information Officer and Chief Administrative Officer. March's vast experience not only encompasses numerous leadership roles but also a dedication to community service.
March’s commitment to community engagement is impressive. He has previously chaired the Carrington Charitable Foundation, aiding over 100 charitable organizations nationwide. Additionally, he initiated a technology mentoring program in collaboration with the California Conservation Corps in Los Angeles, and launched a charitable initiative providing refurbished laptops and monitors to educational institutions and community organizations.
Academically, March pursued Computer Science, with a minor in Mathematics, at California State University, Chico. Apart from his professional commitments, he has contributed to education as a volunteer adjunct professor at various community colleges in California. His contributions extend to authoring published work and speaking at industry events. Recently, March also filed a second patent related to technology, highlighting his innovative spirit.
WCCB itself, established in 2004, has evolved into a fully operational community bank with a commitment to serving its local clientele. Once known as Santa Cruz County Bank, it has undergone branding changes while continuing to prioritize relationship-based service that distinguishes it from larger banks. WCCB offers competitive deposit and lending solutions aimed at both businesses and individuals, addressing their varied financial needs within the community.
With March at the helm of technology and innovation, West Coast Community Bank is poised for a future of enhanced security, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. As the bank continues to strengthen its foothold in the community, March’s leadership is expected to propel WCCB into a new era of digital excellence.
