AD Works Expands Energy Storage Projects with New Land Acquisitions

AD Works Group, based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has made a significant step in expanding its energy storage capabilities by securing land for its 7th and 8th energy storage facilities in Imari City, Saga Prefecture, and Nikkō City, Tochigi Prefecture, respectively. This acquisition brings the total to eight sites, as they aim to secure a total of 10 locations by 2026.

The subsidiaries responsible for this development, led by Shunya Suzuki, President of AD Works, have been proactive participants in the energy storage market since its formative phase. The company credits its enhanced acquisition capabilities to past achievements and strong collaboration with business partners in the field.

The energy storage sector is seen as pivotal for addressing social challenges by providing the necessary infrastructure to promote renewable energy adoption. AD Works positions this initiative as a new business that will support their overarching vision of achieving a pre-tax profit of 20 billion yen by 2034.

Overview of the New Developments

AD Works has recently signed contracts to acquire land for its 7th and 8th energy storage facilities. Each site will be capable of producing around 2 MW of energy and provide approximately 8 MWh of storage capacity. Development and grid connection procedures are expected to be completed by 2027, leading to operational launches in May and September of that year in Saga and Tochigi, respectively.

Imari City, Saga Prefecture

  • - Output Capacity: Approximately 2 MW / About 8 MWh
  • - Expected Start Date: May 2027

Nikkō City, Tochigi Prefecture

  • - Output Capacity: Approximately 2 MW / About 8 MWh
  • - Expected Start Date: September 2027

Note: The start dates are subject to changes based on construction progress, grid connection processes, and other conditions.

Building Competitive Edge through Early Market Entry

AD Works entered the energy storage business in 2025, focusing on the rapid development of high-voltage storage facilities. To date, they have secured six development sites, with one already operational in both wholesale electricity and supply-demand adjustment markets.

The accumulation of operational experience has generated a positive feedback loop, improving their ability to acquire project information and make informed investment decisions, ultimately contributing to this recent land acquisition.

As they continue to progress with the development of other planned energy storage facilities, AD Works aims to bolster its performance and position this venture as a long-term growth driver contributing to profitability.
