Celebrating Two Years of Guruguru Shakashaka
Guruguru Shakashaka, the salt specialty store located on the fourth floor of Tokyo Solamachi, recently celebrated its second anniversary. Known for offering a unique salt blending experience, the store is now making waves with an exciting new collaboration:
Himalayan Salt Cider. This innovative drink combines Asahi Beverage's iconic Mitsuya Cider with a unique twist, all thanks to a delightful pinch of Himalayan rock salt.
Starting July 11, this limited-time takeout drink will be available, delighting customers with its perfect balance of salty and sweet flavors, making it a refreshing choice for the sweltering summer heat.
What makes this drink stand out? A generous chunk of naturally sourced Himalayan salt rests atop a cup of Mitsuya Cider, allowing guests to pour the mineral-rich salt into their drink, creating a fusion of flavors that is both energizing and satisfying.
The Essence of Himalayan Rock Salt
Himalayan rock salt originates from ancient sea water that crystallized over millions of years during tectonic movements. This dramatic history adds a touch of romance to the idea of incorporating it into the drink. Packed with iron and minerals, the subtly sweet flavor elevates the salt's savory notes. To ensure that the flavor balance remains intact, the drink’s design prevents the salt from soaking for too long, conserving its unique taste.
Adding another layer of flavor, the store's original salted blend is included as a secret ingredient. Curated by
Salt Coordinator Shiho Aoyama, this special blend is designed to enhance the sweetness of Mitsuya Cider while incorporating magnesium that is essential for preventing summer fatigue. This creative concoction promises a revitalizing experience as you sip away the summer heat.
Take Home Your Salt
One of the best parts? Customers can take home the Himalayan salt after finishing their drink. This allows for a second serving of Mitsuya Cider at home or even for use in culinary applications and as an additive for bath salts. It’s a souvenir that continues to give long after the initial drink is finished.
