Celebrating Excellence: WaterWipes® Announce 2024 Pure Foundation Fund Winners

In a heartfelt announcement, WaterWipes® has unveiled the winners of their fifth annual Pure Foundation Fund, a program aimed at honoring the incredible work of healthcare professionals in maternity, neonatal, and postnatal care. This year, the Liverpool Women's Hospital Neonatal Team and the NICU Team at the Coombe Hospital in Dublin have both been awarded a generous bursary of £10,000/€10,000. These funds will support their ongoing efforts in providing high-quality care to families and their newborns.

The Pure Foundation Fund has seen a significant shift in its nomination process, allowing not only individuals but entire teams or units to be recognized for their exceptional contributions. This evolution reflects a growing appreciation for collective efforts in healthcare, particularly in challenging areas such as neonatal intensive care.

Jill Harrison, Clinical Lead of the Liverpool Women’s Hospital Neonatal Team, expressed joy upon receiving the accolade, stating, "We’re so thrilled by the news that we have won this year's WaterWipes® Pure Foundation Fund. It's been a wonderful boost for everyone on the team and a testament to everyone's hard work and dedication." This sentiment is echoed by Ann MacIntyre, Director of Midwifery Nursing at the Coombe Hospital, who commented, "We are so delighted to receive the award, which we will use to further expand our learning and knowledge on preterm behavior... We feel part of their family and they become part of the Coombe family." This highlights the deep bond formed between healthcare professionals and the families they support.

Brogan Chesters, Brand Acceleration Manager at WaterWipes®, noted the powerful impact of this year’s nominations, stating, "The entries underscored the invaluable role of maternal, neonatal, and postnatal healthcare for families in the UK and Ireland. We're thrilled to recognize and thank these unsung heroes with bursary funds, helping to advance care in these critical areas.” Over 1300 nominations poured in this year, demonstrating immense public appreciation for the hard work of healthcare professionals.

Each nomination was meticulously reviewed by a panel that included representatives from WaterWipes®, the UK neonatal charity Bliss, and the Irish Neonatal Health Alliance (INHA). This collaborative approach ensured that the most deserving teams were recognized for their contributions.

WaterWipes® itself has a compelling origin story, which revolves around the founder Edward McCloskey's desire to create a gentle and effective wipe for sensitive baby skin after his daughter developed a rash. This relentless pursuit of perfection in baby care products led to the establishment of WaterWipes®, which are now known for being purer than cotton wool and water.

The Pure Foundation Fund was launched back in 2020 with the goal of celebrating healthcare professionals who dedicate their careers to improving maternity, neonatal, and postnatal care. This initiative not only recognizes exemplary individuals but also catalyzes the improvement of care practices across the board by providing necessary resources to continue their vital work.

As WaterWipes® continues to foster this recognition and encouragement in healthcare, it reminds us all of the essential role healthcare professionals play in nurturing the next generation. They not only care for those most vulnerable but also become an integral part of families' lives, often forming lasting relationships that extend well beyond the hospital walls.
