MW Components Welcomes Thomas A. Amato as Chairman and CEO
MW Components, a recognized leader in manufacturing precision components, has announced the appointment of Thomas A. Amato as its new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Amato succeeds Simon Newman, who has stepped down from his leadership roles in the company.
With a robust background in the manufacturing sector, Amato was most recently the President and Chief Executive Officer of TriMas Corporation, a prominent company with a billion-dollar valuation that serves the aerospace, consumer goods, and industrial markets. His tenure at TriMas lasted from July 2016 until June 2025, where he was credited with significant transformation initiatives that steered the company from being a diversified industrial manufacturer to a focused player in the Aerospace and Packaging sectors.
Amato’s strategic vision at TriMas involved a series of key acquisitions and divestitures, reinforcing his capability in leading companies toward enhanced operational excellence and value generation. Before his tenure at TriMas, he held leadership positions at Metaldyne, LLC and later at Metaldyne Performance Group, which went public in 2014 and was acquired by American Axle in 2017.
Currently, Amato also serves as a Director and Chair of the Compensation Committee at AMETEK, further establishing his reputation as a prominent figure in the industry.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Amato stated, "I am excited to join MW and continue my long association with American Securities. The company boasts a solid portfolio of products and brands, and I look forward to collaborating with the existing MW team to drive further enhancements and growth."
Michael Fisch, the Founder and CEO of American Securities, welcomed Amato's appointment, noting, "Tom is a proven leader and team builder who we have known for more than a decade. Our previous collaborations at Metaldyne were exceptional, and we are eager to work with him again. With Tom at the helm, we anticipate building on MW's momentum moving forward."
