WERNER to Host Nationwide 750 Events for OSHA's Safety Stand-Down Initiative

WERNER®, renowned as a global leader in the manufacturing of ladders and advanced climbing and fall protection products, has announced a significant commitment to heighten safety standards on worksites across the country. As part of OSHA's National Safety Stand-Down initiative, WERNER will conduct an impressive 750 safety training events from May 4 to May 8, 2026. This initiative aims to address the critical issue of preventing falls in the construction industry, which remains one of the leading causes of jobsite fatalities.

The National Safety Stand-Down is a recognized campaign held annually, where employers take the opportunity to pause their operations. This engagement focuses on conversations about potential fall hazards, the importance of implementing fall protection measures, and reinforcing safe work practices. Chad Lingerfelt, the Director of Training and Jobsite Safety Security at WERNER, emphasized the company's decade-long commitment to this cause. He stated, “As a leader in fall protection, WERNER stands firm in its mission to equip safety professionals and construction workers with necessary skills and resources to ensure a safer working environment.”

This year's campaign theme is "Safety Aware. Rescue Prepared." Underlining the significance of understanding proper harness usage and planning for emergencies, the training will teach critical lessons about harness fitting, inspection, and daily usage, fall hazard awareness, and rescue readiness. The training sessions aim to advance awareness and implementation of comprehensive rescue plans that address the dangers posed by suspension trauma and other emergencies.

Over the course of the week, WERNER's Jobsite Safety Security (JSS) team will reach approximately 75,000 trade, safety, and construction professionals. This collaborative effort has been designed to offer extensive safety training through various formats, including instructor-led sessions, online courses, and virtual discussions tailored to fit the needs of contractors, trade crews, and independent tradespeople alike. The JSS team consists of experienced safety experts who bring a wealth of knowledge and real-world jobsite experience to each training event, enhancing their effectiveness in communicating life-saving techniques and protocols.

Werner's outreach does not stop at physical training events. They are also launching an enhanced online fall protection resource center. This initiative aims to provide accessible safety education for diverse users through various platforms, including:
  • - Instructor-led and on-demand training sessions;
  • - Technical discussions and shareable resources;
  • - Instructional videos on proper harness fitting and inspection;
  • - Training content in Spanish covering the ABCDEs of fall protection.

By expanding their educational resources and including multilingual options, WERNER ensures that crucial safety information reaches a broad audience in the workforce, facilitating immediate application in real-world scenarios. The combination of practical guidance, innovative training methods, and understanding of fall protection systems is aimed at reducing risks and improving workplace safety through established best practices.

Additionally, this initiative underscores the collaborative spirit across the construction industry, inviting employers, labor unions, governmental bodies, and equipment manufacturers like WERNER to collectively work towards a safer operational environment. "The collaboration facilitated by the National Safety Stand-Down is a cornerstone of reducing jobsite fatalities and improving safety culture within the industry," noted Chris Trahan Cain, Executive Director at The Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR).

WERNER is immensely proud to support such a pivotal safety initiative, affirming its dedication to innovation and continuous improvement in fall protection and climbing safety.
