In a groundbreaking presentation at Hannover Messe 2026, Shanghai Electric, a global leader in integrated energy and industrial solutions, showcased its innovative products under the theme "Interlocking Energy and Industry." The company aims to bolster its position in light of Europe's energy transition and the rising demand for artificial intelligence (AI) applications in manufacturing, further exploring opportunities for deep collaboration in the sector.
Highlighted Exhibition Areas
Shanghai Electric's exhibition featured four primary areas: AI for Industry, Zero-Carbon Parks, POWER to X, and IIoT Digital Foundation. Each section presented solutions addressing real-life projects globally, demonstrating Shanghai Electric's ability to harness synergies between industry chains in both energy and industry sectors.
AI for Industry
In the AI for Industry zone, Shanghai Electric introduced its StarCloud Intelligent Manufacturing series, which includes nearly 40 AI models and intelligent agents tailored to optimize three major manufacturing scenarios: research and development, production, and operations. One notable innovation, the Mobile Factory, integrates AI with digital twin technology to facilitate remote maintenance and intelligent scheduling. This solution has already been employed in emergency repairs across projects in South Korea, Indonesia, and Bangladesh.
Furthermore, the company’s specially developed Industrial Internet Platform is currently connecting over 460,000 devices, offering digital transformation solutions for production facilities across 13 industries, including energy and manufacturing. Additionally, the exhibition featured Suyuan, a two-legged humanoid robot, showcasing its advanced capabilities in complex industrial environments with high-performance joints and intelligent control systems.
Zero-Carbon Parks
In line with its commitment to green energy, Shanghai Electric is developing reproducible solutions for zero-carbon industrial parks. Offering tailored services throughout the lifecycle—from planning to operation—the company covers more than half of the necessary core equipment needs with in-house products, including systems for wind, solar, storage, hydrogen, and multi-energy coupling. In the Zero-Carbon Parks section, the company highlighted its technologies leading the way in green energy, particularly in wind, solar, and energy storage.
Wind Energy: The company’s 25-megawatt offshore turbine has provided equipment and operations support globally, including for significant projects like the Senj wind farm in Croatia.
Solar Energy: Shanghai Electric showcased its advanced HJT photovoltaic technology, presenting innovative products like integrated solar-storage power supply units, boasting complete value chain coverage.
Energy Storage: The Vanadium-Redox battery system, utilizing a water-based electrolyte, is recognized for its efficiency in large-scale, long-duration energy storage.
Development of Green Hydrogen and Fuels
Continuing its sustainability journey, Shanghai Electric has utilized its expertise in new energies, smart grids, and green chemicals to develop critical technologies for the green fuels supply chain. Custom end-to-end solutions for three primary green fuels—green methanol, green ammonia, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)—are tailored to meet varying resource conditions and market demands. Notably, the Taonan project in Jilin, China's first green methanol demonstration initiative, has achieved EU-ISCC certification for its entire process. In March 2026, the first batch of green methanol was bunkered onto CMA CGM's containership, OSMIUM, at the Shanghai Yangshan Port.
