The MTB Challenge 2026 Toyama Stage is set to take place on July 5, 2026, at the NiX Sports Academy Cycle Park in Toyama City. This exciting mountain biking event, organized by JPF Co., Ltd., aims to promote the joy of cycling among young participants, particularly elementary school children. The event is supported by the Japan Sports Safety Association as part of its initiative to encourage safe sports activities.

Event Overview

The MTB Challenge is more than just a race; it's a participatory event designed to introduce children to the joys of cycling. By providing a platform for kids to challenge themselves on a mountain bike, this event encourages them to embrace the thrill of competition and the satisfaction of finishing a race.

With two race formats - Kids Race and Endurance Race - participants of varying skill levels can join in on the fun. The Kids Race offers a specially designed course, where younger cyclists can ride an age-appropriate number of laps, ensuring that even novice riders can experience the exhilaration of racing.

Conversely, the Endurance Race is open to all ages and consists of a timed race where participants can compete for the most laps completed in either 60 or 90 minutes. Families are welcome to enter as teams, and individual adult competitors are also encouraged.

For those who wish to participate with E-bikes, they are permitted, but their results will only be considered as reference times.

Practical Safety Lessons

Understanding that many children may feel apprehensive about competing, the event will include free coaching sessions led by former professional riders. These lessons will focus on safe riding techniques and offer essential tips for navigating the race course. This practical training is scheduled for the morning of the event, allowing new participants to approach the race with confidence.
