Children Experience Real Pharmacist Work at Wakaba Pharmacy's Unique Event

Experience the World of Pharmacy: Children’s Pharmacist Workshop at Wakaba Pharmacy

On October 25th and 26th, 2025, Wakaba Pharmacy in Hino City, Tokyo, hosted an exciting event called the “Children’s Pharmacist Workshop.” In this unique opportunity, 48 children aged 3 to 11, along with their families, gathered to learn about the world of pharmacy firsthand. Many participants were impressed by the engaging activities that brought the role of a pharmacist closer to home.

A Welcoming Neighborhood Pharmacy

Recently relocated to a more accessible venue close to Toyoda Station, Wakaba Pharmacy aims to provide a friendly environment for local families. This event overlaps perfectly with the pharmacy's vision to be a more approachable healthcare resource, especially for parents keen to expose their children to the medical field. This initiative encourages children to develop an interest in healthcare professions early on.

A Special Behind-the-Scenes Experience

Dressed in pharmacist coats, the young participants were given the rare chance to step into the pharmacy’s compounding area – a place usually hidden behind glass. Guided by professional pharmacists and staff, the children took part in three fun activities:
1. Tablet Compounding: Using a tablet dispensing machine to pack up 'ramune' candy.
2. Liquid Preparation: Mixing juice to create a formulation.
3. Ointment Creation: Making ointments with Vaseline and peppermint oil.

Each child learned the intricacies of pharmacy tasks, using professional equipment under the careful supervision of pharmacy staff. Upon completing their activities, participants were awarded certificates, marking their accomplishments and providing a sense of achievement. Additionally, parents also were allowed into the compounding room, giving them insight into the behind-the-scenes tasks of pharmacists.

Positive Community Response

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with an average satisfaction rating of 4.75 out of 5. Parents appreciated the personal attention their children received during the event, many noting that it sparked conversations about potential career paths. Some comments included, “I never knew what happens behind the glass!”, and “My child now wants to become a pharmacist!”

This event was not just an educational experience for children but also strengthened trust between families and pharmacists. It encouraged questions about everyday pharmacy operations, such as understanding wait times and the importance of thorough medication preparation.

Looking Ahead: Community-Centered Growth

The new Wakaba Pharmacy, located at 2-3-6 Tamadaira, Hino City, Tokyo, has undergone significant changes, including a broad compounding area that allows for a more community-friendly environment. It encourages local residents to feel comfortable visiting and interacting with pharmacy staff. In conjunction with the workshop, Wakaba Pharmacy also held a grand opening sale from October 20 to 31, offering up to 50% off on select health products.

Additionally, the pharmacy has embraced digital innovations, like the ‘Pocket Musubi’ service, where patients can send prescriptions via LINE for a quicker pickup experience. This modern approach aims to bridge gaps in healthcare access and make pharmacy services readily available and convenient for everyone in the community.

Future Events and Commitment to Health

The excitement from the Children’s Pharmacist Workshop surpasses just this single event. Plans for future activities include hosting similar workshops to continuously engage children and attract families to explore choices in healthcare careers. The next workshop is scheduled for January 24, 2026, at Wakaba Pharmacy's Totsuka branch.

Wakaba Holdings is dedicated to building connections throughout the community, ensuring that families feel confident and knowledgeable about their local pharmacists. By continually offering enjoyable and educational opportunities for all ages, the pharmacy fosters a healthier and more informed community.

For more information and updates, parents are encouraged to follow Wakaba Pharmacy’s social media channels. They promote engagement with locals about health education, allowing users to stay informed about future activities and workshops.
