New Mobility Service for Seamless Travel at Haneda Airport

New Mobility Service for Seamless Travel at Haneda Airport

WHILL Inc., headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo, has announced the launch of a rental service for its unmanned mobility device, WHILL, at Haneda Airport's Terminal 2, effective June 15, 2026. This initiative is part of the MoVA mobility project led by ANA Holdings, aimed at providing seamless transportation solutions from the airport to various destinations. The introduction of WHILL at Haneda follows the successful implementation of similar services at Narita International Airport and other locations, addressing the increasing demand for accessible travel options for both domestic and international tourists.

As the aging population continues to grow and tourism demand surges, it has become crucial to enhance accessibility for everyone looking to enjoy Japan’s attractions more freely and comfortably. Recent studies reveal that many potential travelers hesitate to plan trips due to mobility concerns. If these issues are addressed, the potential market for universal tourism in Japan could grow significantly, with estimates suggesting a national market size of around 42 million people by 2023, approximately 1.5 times the current market. Both the actual and potential sizes of this market are expected to expand until at least 2035, primarily driven by the aging population and an increasing number of inbound tourists.

The WHILL rental service has already been rolled out at various airports, including Fukuoka and Naha, where feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Customers have expressed satisfaction with their trips, mentioning how the service allowed them to explore without discomfort. With the introduction of this rental service at Haneda Airport's Terminal 2, travelers will have easier and more convenient access to WHILL and other nearby mobility solutions.

Unlike traditional wheelchairs, WHILL offers electric propulsion, making it easier for users to operate with minimal effort. With its high design aesthetics, the WHILL seamlessly integrates into various travel environments. The featured model, WHILL Model F, is compact and foldable, making it easy to transport and store within vehicles. This mobility solution is ideal for individuals who do not regularly use a wheelchair but find long-distance walking difficult, as well as those temporarily injured or experiencing fatigue. WHILL allows everyone, regardless of age or physical condition, to enjoy their travels at their own pace without worrying about exhaustion or the environment.
