Kinokuniya Bookstore and BioOne Join Forces
In a significant move for the academic publishing landscape in Japan,
Kinokuniya Bookstore, one of the largest bookstore chains in the country, has announced a strategic partnership with
BioOne. This collaboration, set to take effect by June 2025, grants Kinokuniya exclusive rights to sell all BioOne products targeted at institutions across Japan.

BioOne is a reputable non-profit publisher and content aggregator specializing in the fields of biology, ecology, and environmental science. With contributions from over 150 publishers worldwide, BioOne has established itself as a key player in the academic community, making its resources available to more than 3,500 institutions and millions of researchers. The partnership with Kinokuniya aims not only to enhance the distribution of BioOne's products in Japan but also to foster the development of academic research within the country.
By leveraging Kinokuniya's extensive sales network, which spans 29 offices across Japan and includes operations in several international locations, the two companies plan to strengthen their marketing efforts, customer service, and distribution channels. This endeavor will further facilitate the accessibility of BioOne's diverse offerings to academic institutions in Japan.
