New Project Announcement: Kawaii Character Development

In an exciting collaboration, Kiddy Land, famous for its Harajuku store celebrating 80 years of kawaii culture, has partnered with Fuji TV and Fuji Consumer Products to introduce the 'Mirai Kawaii Project - Kawaii Hamugen.' This public character development initiative invites artists and creators of all levels to submit original character designs starting from June 7, 2026.

Project Overview

The goal of this project is to bring forth fresh, imaginative kawaii characters that transcend the traditional definitions of cuteness. Kiddy Land's rich history as a hub of kawaii culture and Fuji TV's innovative spirit aim to create new character IPs that can enhance Japan's character industry on a global stage. By welcoming contributions from the public, the project embodies the idea that individual passions can shape something greater and spread joy worldwide.

The Kawaii Industry Context

Japan's character industry is forecasting a significant growth, aiming for a market size of approximately 2.8 trillion yen by 2025. Kiddy Land itself is projected to see a rise in sales, reaching 33.7 billion yen in 2024 and 40.9 billion yen in 2025. This joint venture not only represents a corporate strategy but also an opportunity to amplify Japan's beloved kawaii culture beyond borders.

Educational Broadcasting
