Manulife Life Insurance Supports Children's Well-Being Through Donations to Yokohama Children's Hospice Project

Manulife Life Insurance's Generous Contribution

Manulife Life Insurance Company, led by CEO Ryan Sherland, has made a significant impact on children's well-being by donating a total of 2,109,900 yen to the Yokohama Children's Hospice Project. This donation is part of their commitment under the Manulife Longevity Institute. The funds are aimed at providing support for children confronting life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Empowering Families Through Community Support

With the help of this donation, the Yokohama Children's Hospice Project aims to create an environment where families can support one another, fostering opportunities for learning, play, and emotional connections even during treatment.

The donation amount for 2025 is based on the step count reported through the Manulife WALK app from December 2024 to November 2025. The Manulife WALK app, launched in 2016, is a free smartphone application designed to encourage walking while simultaneously allowing users' steps to translate into donations, promoting both health and community engagement.

About the Manulife Longevity Institute

The Manulife Longevity Institute, established in November 2025, serves as a global platform aimed at encouraging individuals to live longer, healthier lives without financial worry through research, thought leadership, advocacy, and community investment. Underpinned by a commitment to invest 350 million Canadian dollars by 2030, it promotes initiatives that support people across all ages to improve their quality of life. The donation to the Yokohama Children's Hospice Project is a reflection of this commitment to provide compassionate, community-based support for families grappling with severe health challenges.

Services Ending but Commitment Continues

It is important to note that, as part of their ongoing efforts for social contribution, the Manulife WALK app will discontinue its services on February 28, 2026. However, Manulife Life Insurance remains dedicated to creating positive societal changes in line with their 'Impact Agenda', continuously exploring ways to promote well-being and contribute to the community.
