Sphere Entertainment Appoints Robert Langer as New CFO and Treasurer

Sphere Entertainment Welcomes Robert Langer

Sphere Entertainment Co. has made a significant announcement regarding its leadership team by appointing Robert Langer as the new Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer. His official start date is January 13, 2025.

With a wealth of experience spanning over 30 years, Mr. Langer brings a substantial background in financial leadership to the role. He is expected to play a crucial part in shaping the company's long-term strategic direction alongside the management team. This includes overseeing financial planning, analysis, and providing insights that will guide the company's strategy and business development efforts.

Based out of Sphere Entertainment's Burbank office, Robert Langer will report directly to James L. Dolan, the Executive Chairman and CEO of the company. Dolan expressed enthusiasm about Langer's appointment, noting, "We are pleased to welcome Robert to Sphere Entertainment in this pivotal role. His multifaceted finance and strategy experience across the media and entertainment industry, both domestic and international, will be an asset as we continue to pursue our long-term goals and advance key initiatives."

Prior to his new role at Sphere Entertainment, Langer was affiliated with The Walt Disney Company, where he served as the Global Leader of Enterprise-Wide Financial Planning and Corporate Strategy. His extensive background at Disney includes leading finance processes, supervising forecasts, managing annual budgets, and directing long-term financial planning. Additionally, he oversaw corporate strategy movements, including mergers and acquisitions, and directed a technology-focused incubator program. Langer's association with Disney began in 1999, and during his 25 years there, he occupied various significant positions, such as Chief Financial Officer for multiple divisions including Disney ABC Television Group and Disneyland Resort.

He also has notable international experience, having previously held the title of Country Manager in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. In this position, he was responsible for overseeing all Disney businesses and activities across these European markets. Before joining Disney, Langer was a senior case leader at The Boston Consulting Group, where he specialized in consumer products, retail, and media sectors.

Langer's academic credentials are impressive; he holds a diploma in Theory of Management from the University of Munich and an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management.
