VARTA's Advanced Lithium-Ion Batteries for Recreational Use: Long-Lasting Power Solutions
VARTA's Innovative Lithium-Ion Batteries for Recreational Usage
In recent years, the popularity of outdoor recreational activities has surged across Europe. From flexible campervans to personal boats, enthusiasts seek reliable power solutions that enhance their adventures. Enter VARTA, a leading brand under Clarios, which has unveiled a new line of lithium-ion batteries designed specifically for off-grid recreational applications, such as motorhomes and marine use.
VARTA's battery portfolio consists of six variants, ranging from 50 Ah to 200 Ah, available in four different sizes. Each battery is tailored to provide more usable energy while maintaining a lightweight, compact design — essential for powering electric devices in campers or on boats. These batteries utilize top-grade lithium-ion cells, ensuring maximum reliability and superior performance. Notably, they showcase a remarkable weight reduction of approximately 55% when compared to equivalent lead-acid AGM batteries, making them a game-changer in the field.
One of the standout features of VARTA's lithium-ion batteries is their rapid charging capability. Users can fully recharge the batteries from empty to full within just two to three hours, delivering up to double the usable capacity than traditional models. This efficiency is made possible due to a depth of discharge (DoD) of 80%, allowing as much as 80% of the battery's nominal capacity to be used during operation.
In addition to exceptional power delivery, VARTA’s batteries come equipped with smart options to monitor battery performance. A Bluetooth connection enables users to pair the battery with a mobile app, providing real-time insights into charge status, overall condition, operational cycles, internal temperature, current flow, and system management alerts. For models rated at 100 and 150 Ah, an integration with modern on-board management systems (CI-BUS) facilitates seamless energy management in motorhomes.
Built to withstand challenging conditions, VARTA's battery range also incorporates a heating function for the 100 and 150 Ah models, making them suitable for winter camping and marine applications. Whether exposed to moisture or harsh environments, all six variants guarantee reliable performance. Moreover, apart from the 50 Ah version, all models meet the IP67 protection class, ensuring they are dust and water-resistant—capable of withstanding accidental immersion in water up to one meter deep for 30 minutes.
Furthermore, specially designed low-temperature versions equipped with cell heating technology allow for battery charging in cold conditions, thus broadening their operational temperature range.
