GeoTechnologies Launches First Public-Private Partnership Conference for Regional Cooperation

GeoTechnologies Initiates Regional Cooperation Platform Conference

On November 6, 2025, GeoTechnologies Inc., headquartered in Bunkyo, Tokyo, held the inaugural meeting of the "Regional Cooperation Platform Promotion Study Group". This initiative aims to address regional transport issues by fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI).

Purpose of the Conference

The study group was established in alignment with METI’s framework for a "Regional Cooperation Platform," dedicated to sharing information and exchanging opinions among government bodies, municipalities, and private enterprises, including GeoTechnologies. The first session highlighted the underlying risks faced by essential services in sectors like retail and transportation, along with potential solutions.

Background and Our Role

As Japan copes with an aging population and depopulation, maintaining essential services related to transportation, shopping, nursing care, and healthcare is becoming increasingly challenging. Traditional methods reliant solely on government or single private sector solutions exhibit limitations. Consequently, a new collaborative framework that includes diverse stakeholders and focuses on community support is urgently needed. This study group serves as a vital step toward providing necessary services that sustain social life, supported by METI's call for cooperative local initiatives.

GeoTechnologies aims to promote "visualization of mutual support" and encourage data circulation within the community through its unique geospatial and demographic data. Our innovative research services (Geo-Research) and community-driven photo-sharing application (GeoQuest) are instrumental in achieving these goals. Moreover, we position ourselves as the hub of this initiative to facilitate the implementation of collaborative community support systems.

Overview of the First Meeting

  • - Date and Time: November 6, 2025, from 11:30 to 15:00
  • - Participants: Included representatives from METI, Takamatsu City (Kagawa), Tochigi City (Tochigi), Ikata Town (Ehime), Higashikagawa City (Kagawa), Panasonic ITS, Mickwear Navigations Inc., Ehime CATV Inc., Shikoku Cable Media Inc., and GeoTechnologies Inc.

Future Directions

Building on the discussions from this inaugural meeting, we intend to transition the concept of the Regional Cooperation Platform into actual community operations via the following strategies:
1. Establishing a Continuous Information Sharing Platform: Ensuring that this is not merely a one-off event but an ongoing dialogue.
2. Launching Small-scale Demonstrations and Collaborative Projects: Testing ideas on a localized scale to encourage innovation and cooperation.
3. Creating Sustainable Collaborative Frameworks: Using flow data to enhance the operational models, allowing continuous improvements in local initiatives.

About GeoTechnologies Inc.

Founded in 1994, GeoTechnologies has consistently offered digital mapping solutions. The following year, we launched the mapping software "MapFan". Since then, we have enabled various navigation solutions, including the first domestic i-mode maps, automotive navigation, corporate mapping data, and solutions essential for advanced driving systems (AD/ADAS).

Additionally, our recently released application, "ToriMa," has helped us gain insights into real-world mobility and attitudes through engagement with users. By analyzing vast amounts of big data related to human traffic combined with approximately three decades of geospatial data, we strive to provide "real-time insights" to contribute to a more comfortable and sustainable world.
