Oceanco Showcases Innovative Yachts at Monaco Yacht Show 2026

Oceanco has established a strong reputation in the luxury yacht building industry by collaborating with visionary owners brave enough to challenge traditional norms. This year at the Monaco Yacht Show, Oceanco will unveil two remarkable projects, Leviathan and Draak, which represent both a new construction and a significant renovation. These yachts belong to Gabe Newell, who joined Oceanco’s team in July 2025, marking the first instance of Oceanco presenting both types of projects at this prestigious event.

"Each owner we work with brings a unique vision, and each project presents different challenges," said Marcel Onkenhout, CEO of Oceanco. "Collaboration is at the heart of every decision we make, and we are eager to showcase two yachts that truly embody this ambition at this year’s event."

The Leviathan (111m / 364 ft) and Draak (93m / 305 ft) are designed with a spirit of teamwork and community. The construction process involved extensive collaboration between the two projects, leading to innovative designs and crew-focused philosophies. They complement each other in Gabe Newell's fleet, Inkfish, which aims to support the scientific community.

“Inkfish puts the scientific community first. We work alongside scientists to understand what they need, then we explore how our technology and resources can best support their missions, whether it’s providing access to hard-to-reach areas or aiding in their research,” Newell explained.

Delivered in November 2025, Leviathan redefines the yacht experience, enhancing life onboard for guests and crew alike. Its communal spaces foster interaction, while low-maintenance materials are intended to boost crew productivity. Special facilities onboard include a diving center, a laboratory, and a medical facility, all aimed at supporting the activities of Inkfish.

In June 2026, following a complete overhaul by Oceanco’s Life Cycle Support team, Draak was reimagined for new operational missions. Together with Leviathan, it now assists in Inkfish expeditions, featuring specialized diving facilities, a powerful support craft fleet, and high-capacity lifting systems. Many of the design and operation principles implemented in Leviathan have similarly been adopted in Draak.

This year’s Monaco Yacht Show also marks Gabe Newell's first anniversary with Oceanco. Under his leadership, the company has fostered a collaborative ecosystem, welcoming partners such as Alewijnse and Winel to join existing specialized firms like Aluship, Lateral, and Mercury. Looking ahead, Oceanco anticipates new opportunities to meet the increasingly ambitious expectations of its owners. Leveraging its broader technological ecosystem, the builder is exploring innovative avenues in yacht design, construction, and operation.

“Most projects I’ve participated in over the years have advanced technology in a way that ultimately benefits our clients,” Gabe stated. “Our goal is to identify promising technologies, prototype them, and bring them to production.”

As a key event on the nautical calendar, the Monaco Yacht Show offers a unique opportunity to connect with potential clients, partners, and industry professionals.
