Cirrus360 Unveils Innovative 5G-Edge-Cloud Solution for Meat Processors

Cirrus360's 5G-Edge-Cloud Innovation for Meat Processors

In a groundbreaking announcement at the 2026 International Livestock Congress in Houston, Texas, Cirrus360 has revealed its innovative 5G-edge-cloud technology that aims to transform workflow automation for small and medium-sized meat processors. This new technological solution is expected to address the pressing challenges that these processors face in an increasingly competitive market.

Small and medium meat processors play a crucial role in today’s food supply chain. They support local economies by providing diverse meat and poultry options while often operating in rural areas. However, unlike their larger counterparts, these processors frequently lack the resources necessary to invest in sophisticated information technology systems that streamline operations and ensure compliance with health regulations.

To tackle these challenges, Cirrus360 collaborated with the meat processing experts at Rail19 and the dedicated faculty from Texas A&M's meat science program. Together, they developed Edgware™, an automated, user-friendly solution that leverages cutting-edge sensors, 5G edge, cloud technology, and automation to simplify the monitoring and analysis of production flows. With Edgware™, meat processors can capitalize on state-of-the-art technology without the burden of hefty IT investment, thereby reducing waste and overhead while meeting stringent USDA and state regulatory requirements.

Sudipta Sen, founder and VP of Product Engineering at Cirrus360, expressed enthusiasm for the new technology, stating that it will empower small businesses to streamline daily operations. By automating mundane tasks, Edgware™ minimizes manual labor and supports real-time incident detection and reporting via a centralized interface. This enhancement promises to save operators time and resources, allowing them to focus on what truly matters—producing quality meat products.

The initiative has garnered support from industry professionals like Katie Koon, Managing Partner at Rail19, who commented on the struggle many small meat processing plants face when trying to access technology that is both affordable and relevant to their operations. Koon emphasized how the collaboration between Cirrus360 and Rail19 has yielded practical solutions that integrate communication and data technologies in a way that meets regulatory standards while helping processors achieve their business goals.

Prof. Penny Riggs from Texas A&M University highlighted the straightforward yet effective nature of the innovation, underlining that it resonates with the needs of local processors who often find themselves overwhelmed by the requirements of food safety and compliance.

Cirrus360 received a Phase III Meat and Poultry Processing Research Initiative award from USDA NIFA, enabling the development and launch of Edgware™. The solution’s validation and system integration harness the capabilities of Cirrus360's Gabriel™ platform, which has further benefitted from funding by the US Department of Commerce and, in particular, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration through its Public Wireless Supply Chain Innovation Fund.

Additionally, the integrated system features essential 5G hardware contributions from Pegatron Corporation, including advanced server technology, 5G cameras, and various sensors which, collectively, support the automation framework of Edgware™.

In a related achievement, Cirrus360 was awarded the Global Mobile (GLOMO) award at the Mobile World Congress 2024 for their Intelligent Automation platform, Gabriel™, which recognizes the company’s commitment to innovation in sectors such as healthcare, logistics, and defense, among others. This accolade underscores Cirrus360’s ongoing mission to harness AI-driven automation within 5G/6G and edge system integration.

With a strong foundation in US entrepreneurship and engineering excellence, Cirrus360 is poised to provide competitive solutions that cater to specific market needs, promising a sustainable future for small and medium meat processing plants across the nation.
